Bailey brothers are Eagle Scouts

Dan Bailey and Adam Bailey from Troop 948 have completed the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. The two completed their Eagle Scout projects at Lynnewood United Methodist Church, 4444 Black Ave. in Pleasanton.

Congratulations to the Bailey brothers! I remember Adam from back in the day as a Cub scout. Congrats again!

I made eagle back around the time your father did. My kids, on the other hand, chose sports, which I found provided a similar experience in many ways, especially in the areas of leadership and responsibility.

Different paths lead to similar goals. Remember this.

Mike: sounds like you might still be smarting from your kids' choice of sports over scouting. Different paths can indeed lead to similar ends. It's too bad they don't have time for it all.

I was actually thinking how sports delivered much the same benefit to my kids as scouting did to me. It's nice to know that society provides well in a variety of ways.
