Credit where credit is due for our President

Original post made by jimf01, another community, on Sep 22, 2011

President Obama stood in front of the UN General Assembly yesterday morning and said, "And friends of the Palestinians do them no favors by ignoring this truth, just as friends of Israel must recognize the need to pursue a two state solution with a secure Israel next to an independent Palestine. That is the truth. Each side has legitimate aspirations – and that is what makes peace so hard. And the deadlock will only be broken when each side learns to stand in each others shoes. Each side can see the world through the others eyes. That's what we should be encouraging."

I support Israel, and I support President Obama on Israel.

Let's hope that the two sides can come to a mutually advantageous agreement, one which allows the people on both sides to live their lives peacefully and with dignity.

Conservatives are mum about his speech? You must live in the world of NBC and the New York Times. Dig a bit further and you will see what conservatives thought of his bumbling, fumbling speech at the UN. This president is arrogantly dangerous and as got to go. I can't believe how many people continue to support this guy now that we know who he is. I gave you Obama-supporters a free pass at the beginning, because he was an empty suit and you could fill him with whatever your mind wanted him to be. He had almost no record to run on, and I sat back and watched in amazement at how people whom I thought were intelligent were suddenly goo-goo eyed for Obama. But now that he has a record of everything he touches turns to crap, and you STILL think he's a great president. It makes no sense. Obama is on friend to Israel. I'm not going to bother to explain it, because it is very complex and lengthy, and I've learned that arguing with liberals is liking arguing with a two year old.

Amen Joe

The president should not be applauded. It took no guts to stay neutral and encourage peace. He should reprimand the Palestinians for refusing to pursue peace. Simple. Don't have to dig too deep to see that. Statements made by both sides reveal it all. People just chose to ignore truth when it is in conflict with their views. Pride, perhaps. Foolishness?

And btw why is Ahman... even allowed in our country after his quotes of wishing america destroyed. Baffling. Truly.

I agree with Elle, why is the president of Iran even allowed to come to the US when he has clearly stated that he wishes to destroy America. We should not let him in!!
As for our president encouraging both sides to try to understand each other..the time for that is over. The Palestinians have stated their objective: to wipe out Israel. Who doesn't get that? There can be no compromise with crazies!

Joe is the exact reason why our world is so screwed up when it comes to peace accords. He's mean spirited and just lambasted Jim about his take on Obama's UN speech, even categorized his place on the political spectrum all in the same breath.....Wow, switch to decaf and lighten up dude!....you're probably a crotchety old nitemare who needs to get a little sumpin'-sumpin'....Ciao grouchy! Keep watching Fox news

Mr Obama is no friend of Israel. He has proven this time and again by tossing jews out in traffic. Don't ask me...I am not jewish...ask the jews, a traditional constiuency, that all polls show that he is losing fast, the same with the Hispanic vote.

He was forced into his position at the UN today, and like every other big decison he made it because it was politicaly expedient.

I too drank the Kool-Aide, but like a lot of people who did, I have grown weary of his obvious lack of conviction and his willingness to bend in the easiest direction no matter what the consequences.

I find it doesn't matter what Obama does, the "ditto heads" will always find something bad to say.

There are two sides to this long-term conflict, and plenty of blame to go around on both of them.

Our very own president Barak Obama, continuing the tradition of a long line of American administrations, is promoting peace in the Middle East through dialogue between the parties of the conflict.

How can this be bad?

Some angry folks have a need to split-off President Obama as a bad object. Anger is a sequelae of depression.

my advice: swallow a bitter pill and moveon.com
