Hypothetically:
A group of boys have targeted and isolated another boy. The one is out numbered and in danger, a beating has been threatened. Another young man feeling he must aid his friend foolishly steps in using a weapon to even the odds.
Sounds like a scene from Westside Story, boys are primal.

I don't believe in astrology and I laugh openly at people who claim to have ESP or the ability to communicate with the dead; but in certain cases I believe that it's possible to predict someone's future.

I agree with Mike. Garbage in, garbage out. Based upon our predictive capacities, we should imprison certain kinds of kids, from certain backgrounds, before they even commit any crime. The crime of one's past milieu is often sufficient enough to make any such determination.

Estabanyo,

I was not arguing that one's past milieu serves as a predictor of one's future. I was arguing that certain behaviors may serve as a predictor of one's future.

Seems the stabees (2 young black males) had beat up the stabor (young hispanic male) the previous week. This was payback. Sounds like a gang issue to me. Run them all out of town.
