National NLRB Weighs in on Castlewood Dispute
State, National, International, posted by Mr. T, a resident of the Vineyard Avenue neighborhood, on Sep 2, 2011 at 3:50 pm

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has ruled a majority of Castlewood Country Club's 18-month lockout of service workers is illegal, which union officials say could force the club to bring the employees back and pay lost wages.

It's kind of tough being an employer in an environment where the *Federal Government* comes to bear against a tiny local club. You read about "uncertainty" scaring businesses into inaction. This certainly would scare me.

All is relative. Previously, it was the powerful club against a tiny local group of employees.

While I feel strongly that some jobs are not careers, there is an intuitively discernible level of fairness that both employer and employee should strive for.

Not so fast in. Your celebration on another victory over employers by your messiah. It's already been announced that this decision is being appealed and will no doubt be overturned, as it was the last time this tactic was attempted. What kind of employable person loiters in front of a business for many, many months and doesn't have to look for a paycheck elsewhere? Only union stooges and their willing accomplices.....losers, all.

Steve,

Maybe you think it is a bad decision they made, but they are making it in the hope that doing so will get them their jobs back, that a perceived injustice will be corrected. That doesn't make them losers.

This is not a ruling, only this union's leadership using propaganda to continually illicit blind support. For what 16 months now?.....Same case was brought last August and was dismissed, so on appeal there is another in November --why is the ruling going to be different? check with unite2850 leadership and ask them-- don't be blind followers.....you might begin to see what this union is all about. This union leadership failed to put these union employees back to work at a market competitive compensation package....sad. These union members really need to ask more questions of their leadership.

Joe, the blind follower, hearing is set for November 7th, sorry pal no "ruling" until then...and it won't be any different than last August. If you dare to find out the facts on comp, you may want to be a --what do you call-- "scab". Talk to Ms Norr or Ms Huber at unite2850, be inquisitive-- get the facts...you might learn something new.
