Pretty ignorant piece, Cindy. Lots of unsubstantiated claims that show you've written about this war without having done any research whatsoever. What is your prime reading material? Do you read? Name one book you have read that supports your childish claims, please.

Have YOU ever read "The Washington Connection and Third World Fascism", "Terrorizing the Neighborhood:American foreign policy in the Cold War Era" and "Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance" by Noam Chomsky? I have! Ms. Cross, in her article, quoted a president and former general on his qualified take on the powers of the military industrial complex, so what does that have to do with her reading preferences? Name one conflict our police tactics have ever been successful? Viet Nam? We lost 59,000 lives, ten times that many seriously wounded and for what? How about Iraq? Any half wit would know that Afghanistan is no different, and all the while lives are lost, which I think was her point.

It's tragic that the soldiers died.

I've got to add.. if, as you say, we're there just for the money - it isn't working, is it?

What happened to Obumma's pre-election pledge to get us out of there??

He's still blaming all our problems today on the 'Bush policies,' forgetting that 24hrs after his inauguration, things became 'his policies'!

He reminds me of OJ looking for Ron and Nicole's killer on the golf course.. and, he's got a Martha's Vineyard vacation coming up again this month. Wonder who's answering the phone at 3am??

I strongly recommend that all Plutonian's read the NY Review Books if you're interested in Chomsky!

He may not be popular in Plutonia but his analysis is brilliant!

VIVA CHOMSKY! GORA GORA CHOMSKY!

WOW! READER reads! What? By the language of belittlement towards Ms.Cross it appears as though READER can't take his/her nose out of the tabloids long enough to see the wolf at door. When it comes to reading, remember garbage in garbage out. It's obvious that READER needs to purge!

Reader has obviously overdosed on the obama Kool Aid. He's willing to give the amateur in the White House a pass on all his ongoing campaign rhetoric. The fact that he calls Cindy childish for stating facts he doesn't agree with points out that he is a well rained liberal following the playbook.
I'm sorry for the talented, dedicated young men's death. More blood on the hands of our commander in chief.

I agree with "steve" that the troops had no business getting in the way of a lethal weapon.

shame on them...can we all just get along?

Perhaps the reason so many Americans don't want to serve their country in a war zone is because they might be killed?
