The Bare Hands of El Balazo Restaurants, posted by Abe, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Jul 20, 2008 at 10:49 pm
I went to El Balazo recently, the one in Pleasanton by Wal-Mart, and the server used his bare hands to scoop cheese and lettuce out of their containers. He never put on gloves, nor did I see gloves on any other employees behind the food counter. He used a ladle for the beans, I suppose because he didn't want to get his hands wet. What's the deal? I don't know Health Department rules, but this doesn't seem kosher.

Why would anyone patronize a food eatery that KNOWINGLY employed ILLEGALS? If one can't remember to get the proper paperwork to be in this country, how can you expect them to handle food legally and properly?

Report the practice of handling food without gloves to the local Department of Public Health. They will contact the owner about guidelines so that the public is remains safe.
As for your reference to "illegals", I suggest that YOU contact your 2 elected CA senators and ask them about their specific plans to manage "illegals". They will inform you, if they ever get back to you, that they have NO specific plan to manage "illegals". In other words, your elected officials don't care! President Bush doesn't care, John McCain, Barack Obama, and the US Congress don't care about "illegals" in the US!
Wondering, consider posting the results of your findings. I am very interested in what YOU do about the food handling problem. It is a serious public health issue. Please also keep us posted after YOU contact Senator Boxer and Senator Feinstein. Gracias...
If you decide not to follow-up on making the proper contacts, are you just another unhappy camper?

And what's your role, telling other people how they should conduct themselves? You think strangers should report to you for your approval on the way they live? You are not a benefit to this forum.

Hi Abe...have you made your report to public health officials yet? Have you made contact with your 2 Senators, Feenbean & Boxit? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Marta, I don't think that you want to tangle with me! But then again, if you do, "Bring It On". Are you the Devil Daddy? Tee hee hee, tee hee hee...
One more thing and don't you forget it, I have 2 mini doxies that I just might sic on you! HOORAY.
NOW, CONTACT THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT IF YOU DON'T WANNA GET PLASTERED ONLINE!!! AND, I DON'T MEAN MAYBE...TEE HEE HEE, TEE HEE HEE...

Hi Wondering...still a Nazi...huh? Is Edna the devil...666?
Anyway, go back to where you came from...Mr. Tidy Bowl, give it a flush and take Edna to!!! Tee hee hee, tee hee hee...
But wait...have you contacted your elected reps to learn what they plan to do about "illegals"...you must feel helpless knowing that there is nothing you can do to stop the flow of "illegals" to the US...

The concern originally of this post was that the servers were using bare hands. How did it get on to being illegal workers? Are the two connected? Serving with bare hands means you are an illegal worker? Stick to the subject! And Cholo shut the $%&* up! Your ramblings make you sound like a mad man, which you probably are, does that mean you're an illegal worker?!

That's pretty gross. We had sandwiches at a popular chain downtown and I had asked for no seasoning. After the woman working put seasoning on it, I reminded her that I did not want seasoning. I was expecting that she would make a new sandwich or simply remove the meat and start over. No...what did she do?? She picked up my sandwich and BLEW the seasoning off with her mouth!! So disgusting! I can only imagine what else goes on there. We won't be back!

Stacey, Have you been to El Balazo? The set up is like a deli. The employees make the burrito in front of you, taking, with bare hands in this case, the food you ask for out of plastic containers.
I've been going to El Balazo for years, and never saw anyone use their bare hands before.
To the person who asked if I care if the employee is illegal, no, I don't care.
To Leslie, if you can get Cholo to shut up, I will donate 1,000 dollars to your favorite charity.

No, haven't been to El Balazo. I suppose the answer to the question of "are glove required?" can be found in the California Health Code. Web Link Part 7 probably.

He's not handling customers, Sensible, he's handling food. Therefore, he's not going to be 'passing customer' germs. The only germs would come from his own body, as in not washing hands after using the bathroom.
Chefs in the finest restaurants are not handling food. They're giving orders to the lackeys who are handling the food.
Stacey, thank you for the info. That's interesting.

Mind your manners LesPee & Abee. And, what do you about kosher? Abby & that CRANK EDNA started this whole mess, not me. Tell me, what do you know about kosher? Do you abserve a higher law, like in Kashrut? Fess up you piglet!
Has anybody ever been to the kitchen of a chinese restaurant and observed the cooks using plastic gloves? I've seen a few even scratching their heads while cooking. Now LesPee, go pick you nose...again.
I try my best to take the high road, you might want to give it try!
