DELAY VOTING!
Voters should delay voting until the results of the PUSD/union negotiations are completed.
Voters need to know if PUSD and the unions are serious in their desire to control costs and efficiently use taxpayer dollars.
Word is that tentative agreements are in place and will be voted on soon. Let's hope that the agreements show a strong 4-year committment to reduce costs to complement a 4 year parcel tax.

I absolutely agree! If you're planning to vote NO, you should wait at least until April 29 to mail back your ballot. Maybe a few days later would be even better, as we'll have a much clearer view of what the union has negotiated.

It looks to me like Nomad and unclehommer are acting like grade school kids. They don't think they can win the election, and so they'll resort to whatever it takes. Suppressing the vote? No problem! Voting more than once? No problem!
I support with enthusiasm Measure E. Let's keep Pleasanton's schools competitive.

Ballots are due on May 3, no postmarks accepted. So if you refuse to mail your ballot on time, and the registrar of voter does not get it by may 3, your vote will not count.

PUSD voted to make their own concessions last year BEFORE the parcel tax vote in hopes that the community would meet them halfway. And the community didn't. OF COURSE PUSD is going to wait until after the parcel tax vote. They will not vote on concessions unless the community passes the parcel tax. It was a huge slap in the face last year and they are not willing to do that again.

I intend to vote on the Measure because of its own merits. Our our outstanding school system is now hemmoraging [spelling? sorry!] and it is time for the community to step forward and lend a helping hand. I don't believe the schools are trying to deceive anyone. In fact I find that notion to be ridiculous. I will vote, and vote only once! I hope it will be a wise vote. I am hoping we can pass the Measure E.

This from a person who tells us to deface other people's personal property if he doesn't agree with them. Yes, I think I trust the PUSD administration. Sounds OK to me. Three yes votes from this household.

VOTE NO ON E PLEASE
the measure is not complete and will not only add to a homeowners tax they are paying, it DOES NOT secure the jobs of teachers. There is not set rules to how they delegate the money. Administrators will line their pensions. VOTE NO until they work it out.

This voter thinks that is a good thing and has made his opinion known to PUSD. I researched the subject and discovered that we have one of the best school districts in California. PUSD doesn't need micromangement. Some of my neighbors moved to Pleasanton just for the schools. I don't have any children, but I'm happy to support Measure E and donate money to the schools.

It has been deviously devised by all of Pleasanton's teachers and administrators. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE BUZZARDS means to line their pockets with OUR GOLD!!!

Is it true that the town meeting last week, the locals were against any new apartment housing being built? I heard the lot across from McDonalds was bought and the Town Council "will not" approve this new development - an upscale apartment/retail buildings - to be built because people here don't want to honor the State of California's housing act for low income and disabled persons.
Apparently there were a lot of racial things said.
Did you know that the State of California will fine Pleasanton Millions of dollars if they don't allow housing to be built here?
Our little town continues to charge home owners taxes for a school district that has numerous problems, but the district is falling a part. Then they don't allow new housing or taxes to come into the city. Then we get fined millions of dollars by the State because Pleasanton is not in line with the housing act?!? What is this?
I think Diane Sawyer needs to do a report on our town and how backwards it all is.... what a shame.... lining the pockets of people with money who are racist...

PUSD showed no accountability on previous Bond refinancing, and refuses to commit to a clear statement of what will and will not be done if voters approve measure E. Saying E $$ will not be used for certain things, then paying for those same items out of other district funds is not showing good faith with the taxpayers and parents in this town.
Vote No on E until PUSD shows they will be accountable.

Received a ballot at 10:30am - sent it back at Noon with a clearly marked NO!
Don't wait.. you might get hit by a bus and not get a chance to say NO!
Not one penny more for these endless demands.. and, they are demands. Just look at most of the 'support E' posts. Threatening, insulting and demanding!

Today's Independent paper has several must-read letters.
Planning Commis Ann Fox on page 4, and Kay Ayala and Steve Brozowsky, for council members...page 10. Kay facts and figures....sure helped me grasp the situation.

To Independent,
I was more persuaded by the yes on Measure E letters in that paper. Then I came here to these blogs and read what many of the no on E people were pushing -- Michelle Rhee, vouchers, charter schools. Then, I discovered Michelle Rhee's alleged "results" were based mainly on fraud.
Not only that, I looked up Pleasanton schools and found that we have some of the highest test scores and ratings in the state. The last thing we need to do is tinker with a winning formula just to save a few dollars in taxes. This is especially true in light of all the findings of fraud associated with the proposed changes. Families move to Pleasanton for the schools. Our schools our excellent. We need Measure E to make sure the quality of our schools remains high.

Dan, I'm not influenced by opinions and other areas. But, I found the facts figures and actions locally VERY interesting ! The numbers Steve presented are key to the equation !
...it makes my gut ache, but shame on our local PUSD officials.
My priorities are 1. Pleasanton students, 2. teacher quality, 3. teacher wants, and union rules and wants are destructive and irrelevant;

I found nothing compelling in "Steve's" numbers, and certainly nothing for the district to be ashamed of, unless running one of the best school districts in California is something to be On the contrary, I think the district has done an excellent job of providing the highest quality education possible for Pleasanton students. That is why I voted Yes on Measure E.

Dan, you must wear rose-colored blinders. The case presented in the Independent by Anne Fox was a great "closing statement"....nothing else to add. She cinched my No vote.
