CalTrans to devaste Niles Canyon - protest this Sat.
Around Town, posted by Nancy, a member of the Foothill High School community, on Mar 3, 2011 at 4:39 pm

For those who may not know, CalTrans has already begun removing trees in Niles Canyon as part of a massive, three-phase project to straighten out the canyon. If all goes as planned, there will be sound walls, gross harm to the fish, wildlife and beauty of the canyon, and interruption - and maybe outright sessation - of Niles Canyon Railway train travel.

Niles Canyon is a safer-than-most State highway; CalTrans' plans equal gross government waste. There will be a big protest this Saturday at the Fremont end of Niles Canyon starting at 5pm.
