And so it begins - parcel tax supporters campaigning on school grounds Schools & Kids, posted by Start Afresh, a resident of the Country Fair neighborhood, on Feb 16, 2011 at 1:19 pm
On Tuesday February 15, parcel tax supporters were busy outside Mohr Elementary passing out campaign literature and campaign fundraising envelopes. People and conversations and literature continued onto the school grounds which is clearly illegal.
This same behavior occurred in 2009 and included distributing campaign literature on city property (Gingerbread) which is also illegal.
Have they no scruples or are we going to see tax supporters stretching the boundaries again?

Have they name shame!!! Have they no decency!!! First it is typos at PUSD and now this!!! To profane this distinguished setting with such disgraceful and illegal activities!!! As if it weren't bad enough with all the drug dealers and teaching of evolution on campuses now this!!!

Just like it was illegal for Kay Ayala to campaign on school grounds for "saving the hills" and she did it anyway. I stood watching her one day as she stood on school property blocking the path for kids on bikes- they had to go into the street! Double standards anyone?

I am SO against anybody campaigning for anything on any school property...ever. I am not only against campaigning, but ANGRY at any teacher , ever, campainging TO and brainwashing our children with teachers' personal opinions, bias, and lies. Children have no perspective on adult reality. It puts children in the middle...AS BAD AS BICKERING DIVORCED PARENTS... what "childhood psychology expert" would approve of such distructive behavior? Surely it is destructive to put the child in the middle ! Any teacher doing so would deserve to be FIRED on the spot for screwing with and MANIPULATING the minds of children ! Butt out of family matters !

Are you allowing your children to make their own decisions, or are you heavily influencing them? I would imagine you are doing more brainwashing than any teacher could ever think about doing. Practice what you preach.

just more acts of desperation by those who know the cause is lost. When do we go to the polls and when can I expect my ballot to come in the mail.............let's get the deed done and over once and for all.

This is truly an outrage!!! It was this kind of thing that caused the downfall of the Soviet Union!!! We need to focus on Spudnut, not Sputnik!!! This is just as bad as saying that we all evolved from Monkeys!!! This is child abuse!!! I'm no kin to the monkey or unions!!!
Posted by Not allowed, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 16, 2011 at 11:45 pm
To, To not allowed, You bet I intend to influence them, they are MY children ! Not yours ! Like I said minors have NO concept of ADULT REALITY..so keep your brainwashing away from MY children. AFTER they've received their first ADULT paycheck, then you can engage them with your personal opinions, but NOT until then.
Posted by Not allowed, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 16, 2011 at 11:54 pm
To, To not allowed, you made my point. You have no regard for the minor if you don't grasp the trauma to a minor when they are PULLED, divided, and torn by 2 opposing forces in their lives. IF you don't know that, you definitely are not qualified to be on the playground or classroom with minors. Keep your personal opinions and political campaigning outside the campus boundaries.

A children are being torn apart, ripped to shreds!!! They're being told that they evolved from apes!!! OK if you liberals are so smart how come apes are still around??? Didn't think of that did you??? How come we don't see monkeys evolving into people every day??? Ha!!! Got you there!!!

To "Not allowed",
Sarah and Michele are trying to find solutions!!! Are you going to be part of the solution of part of the problem? No parcel tax or evolution in the schools!!! It is an outrage!!! Maybe you don't know what a SpudNut is?
Posted by Not allowed, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 17, 2011 at 5:20 pm
Comment, I am sorry you did not stick to the issue. I'm for keeping any employee from campaigning ON campus. Surely you are too. Don't go losing the issue by looking like a kook supporting kooks like Huckabee, Palin, and Bachman. I certainly wouldn't want them or you campainging on campus either ! I stick to the principled position of NOBODY EVER campaign on their 'issues' on my taxpayer property ! ! !

I would just like to point out that nowhere in the "article" does it say that the people passing out information were employees of PUSD. Employees of PUSD have been strongly warned that they are not to discuss the parcel tax on school property, on school time, and especially with students. Citizens can do whatever they like as it is public property.

Well I'm OK with it if they are standing up for America and family values on public property. I mean that's what built this country. Just look at the founding fathers. They would be fine with it. It is when they start all this Marxist stuff that I have a problem.
Posted by Me Too, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 17, 2011 at 11:19 pm
Yes, there should be no government operations of any kind on public property. This is an outrage! Next you you know the President will be on public property talking about his next agenda. This has to stop!!! The President must also stop appearing on TV until "Not Allowed"'s children reach the age of 26 (when our current government believes they can take care of themselves). Nevermind that they can vote at 18...Mommy will tell them what to vote for because they can't process the information themselves.
Posted by Not allowed, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 8:57 am
Comment, so you're OK as long as they are preaching "your family values", but not political tax issues. Do you not see any hypocrisy in your selectivity.
And MeToo can't discuss seriously, but childishly throws in age of 26. . . Neither of you are deep enough to grasp that when PUSD students are on campus they are "HOSTAGES"...the topics are not the minor students, but that of the 'campaigners"..... Again, NOT with my tax dollars.
I repeat, I stand with my principled position of no hypocrisy....NO campaigning ever (not YOUR family values, religion, politics, or teacher's union) not to confined MINORS ! And yes 18 yr olds make bad choices based on emotions, rather than experienced adult reality. They may do so, but with their narrow experiences, they are frequently wrong.
Posted by Me Too, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 9:16 am
I didn't childishly throw in age 26 , that what our current government decided regarding health care for children. Secondly, you are free not o send you students to public school, there is private school and home schooling. I do not agree with teachers campaigning but I do think the initial post is over reacting...that is what my post was about.
But all you can see is "not with my money" stuff. Its not your money, its all of our money. You are not paying for the school, we all are paying for the school. So why can't those people that pay for the school do what they want? You only want them to do what you want, its a bit hypocritical, don't you think?
Posted by PEVC, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 11:45 am
The point is that campaigning is not permitted on school and city grounds. It would be prudent for PUSD and the City to issue a reminder to their employees about what activities are and are not permitted.
The No on Measure E team will be sure to call out the violations of law and or ordinances. Better to prevent the problem in the first place, than to have the cost of embarassment later.
Posted by Not allowed, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 11:48 am
Not at all hypocritical. Not allowing anything from anybody creates a fair and equal non - action, as opposed to allowing wide open everybody and anybody can campaign campus with every kooks litter. That is an action that would require limits, just your litter, but not my litter, now which group decides what's OK and what's not... very subjective (thus UNfair)...would it be you who is totally objective, or would that be me and WHO would decide THAT ! no end....SO AGAIN, back to my original principled position of NO CAMPAIGNING on OUR campus !
Posted by comment, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 12:33 pm
Not Allowed, whose side are you on anyway??? I thought you were standing up against the Marxists!!! Now you're no better then them!!! Would you just put your head in a blender and turn it on??? Of course not that would be crazy. So why are we doing it with our kids??? Strong family values was good enough for the founding fathers why is it not good enough for you??? This needs to be taught in schools!!!

I was one of the parents handing out information on Measure E. No one is on school property and all information is being handed to adults. Calm down people. Private citizens are allowed to campaign on public property. The campaign is not being run by the school district. It is being run by lots of people in this community who care about quality education - nothing more, nothing less. You can all stop your conspiracy theory histrionics.
Posted by Start Afresh, a resident of the Country Fair neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 12:53 pm
The adults, literature, and conversation continued onto the school property. That's called campaigning. It is now happening in other places including the district office. The Measure E people know it. PUSD knows it. And they are enabling it to happen.

Thank you "just the facts" for clearing up the hysteria that quickly moved from incorrect information to supposed facts by some who post here. People like Start Afresh will post anything to create a conspiracy theory because the truth goes against what they want. Since when are the adults of this community, working on their free will to inform other adults, all of a sudden committing a crime? Are you serious with an accusation that you have a right to censor conversations between adults when on public property? That is an interesting demand to be requiring for Pleasanton residents.
I certainly hope people start to speak out against those who would like to silence your opinion because you believe differently.
And "Not Allowed" you are truly offensive, calling our children hostages because they are at school. Your choice of words are just another example of the hysteria and manipulation of the truth that seems commonplace and validated in this town. I think its sick.

Just the facts said:
"Private citizens are allowed to campaign on public property."
How about you take a Measure E campaign sign and walk around each elementary school campus during school hours? Go ahead. Show us if your statement is indeed fact. And 'Really?' Why don't the two of you go together?
Posted by comment, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 9:53 pm
I thought you were one of us but you are not!!! Standing up for America is always right!!! What are you so afraid of that you have to act like a coward??? I am just as disgusted as you that are children's brains are being ripped apart and shredded just like being in a blender when Marxists put out their pro-tax at the schools!!! But if someone wants to speak up for America and small business and less regulation at the schools that is A-OK with me!!! What would Ronald Reagan do??? Ask yourself that!!! Taxes are tyranny!!! If you don't already know that just read Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levin!!! It really opened my eyes!!! No way I can vote for Mitch Daniels!!! Sarah Palin is A-OK!!! If you tell the kids we are nothing but monkeys that means they can do anything they want!!! It is all relative so they say!!!
Posted by Not allowed, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 18, 2011 at 11:53 pm
Really ? Yes hostage. Yes,parents take to school and they are not to leave until school's out...and you want to get in their face with your personal issues....that is wrong ! !
And Comment, Ronald Reagan would say if you agree with somebody 80% of the time, they are your friends. SO, do you and Palin welcome the 80 percenters as fellow friends, or stupidly call them rinos ? "Ask yourself that ! ! ! BTW, Mitch Daniels is my first choice who I'll campaign for! I'm a strong fiscal conservative and want to make sure we elect a strong fiscal conservative....I despise losing elections, and really stupid people that cause the loses....like the idiots that handed Boxer her victory. Idiots who didn't like her, knew they were setting it up for her, and handed it to her anyway. Idiots who don't understand how elections work, shouldn't get involved....like Palin meddling and handing a sure Repub victory to Dems in Deleware...can't get much more stupid than that. Certainly not following Reagans 80A% rule...such hypocrites, should never use and defame Reagan's name.

The only response is a snarky one when it comes to this nonsense right ladies?
Not allowed has now moved the fact that some private citizens passed out fliers on public property to teachers holding kids hostage in schools preaching their personal issues.
If you want your child to be excused from class, all you have to do is go to the office and sign them out. Have you no sense for safety issues, allowing kids to simply walk off campus for any reason at any time? Oh that would go over really well with this crowd!
Keep the hysteria rolling- it really comes across as crazy town!

Plain and simple, no new taxes. The school district needs to learn how to live within its means and take a lesson from the citizens of this city whom have, by the most part, taken a wage cut in their everyday jobs.
