50th ABC Basketball Tourney - Don Underwood Special Guest

Original post made by AmadorNews, Amador Valley High School, on Dec 11, 2010

The Amador Basketball Classic Tournament is celebrating it's 50th year! This is a very special ABC Tournament and will be honoring Coach Don Underwood at the December 11th Championship game.

Don Underwood coached in the Amador Basketball Program for 37 years, 26 years as the head varsity coach. Coach Underwood ended his coaching career just 3 wins short of 500 victories. During his tenure he led the Dons to over 20 Tournament Championships, 10 League Titles, 4 Section Titles, 7 trips to NorCal Championship play and one California State Championship Title Game, losing in overtime in 1993 to Artesia High School from Southern California. He still remains the most successful coach in EBAL history winning over 70% of the games he coached. Coach Underwood was an instrumental part of the Amador Basketball Classic, bringing in teams throughout the 80's and 90's that produced over 15 NBA stars, including Jason Kidd. Don Underwood has been synonymous with Amador Basketball for over four decades.

Come be a part of this tradition-rich event and cheer for the Dons! The Dons will be playing in the championship game at 8pm.
