Comments on Stories, posted by Billie, a resident of the Mohr Park neighborhood, on Dec 10, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Pleasanton Weekly,

The initial thread on the article "Hosterman names City Council colleague Cook-Kallio as vice mayor, but not everyone pleased", along with its associated comments, has been deleted and is "no longer in the system".

I'm curious as to why it was removed. Which comments were so out of line that the thread had to be removed? Do you see the comments in the latest thread on this article so much more conducive to provoking thoughtful commentary on this issue that it will remain in the system? Did someone request that it be removed?

Frankly, I'm somewhat baffled as to the logic behind some of the recent editing in the forum. Perhaps you could share the "Terms of Use" you are currently operating under.

Thank you.

PW Forum Editors:

Just a heads up . . . I am reposting my original comments in the remaining thread regarding Mayor Hosterman's appointment, once again, of Councilmember Cook-Kallio as Vice Mayor.

I have no idea why the original thread was removed, but since my post in that thread was the last one of any length (I think the actual last post, the one that followed mine, said something like "Jennifer rocks"), I will be most interested to see if it causes the remaining thread to disappear.

Should you care to respond, I am still very interested in why the original thread was removed.

Thank you.

For no clear reason, many threads are closed to the public with a note:

"Comments on this topic have been limited to registered users who are logged in.

If you are a registered user, login here.

If not, registration is very simple and may be done here."

And then often they disappear the thread- maybe because there are few further comments.

This defeats the purpose of having an open forum.

Come on editors, if you are doing things that you are embarrassed about, straighten up and fly right!

“Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.”
