Our "Meg Whitman" Sign -- Stolen! State, National, International, posted by wcd, a resident of Livermore, on Oct 12, 2010 at 3:02 pm
For the first time in my life I put a political yard sign in my front yard. Actually three: one for Meg, one for Carly, and one for Abram Wilson. Last Saturday night / Sunday morning our Meg sign was stolen -- plucked from our front yard. The other two were left as they were.
First, it's pretty pathetic that someone would commit theft to "express" their viewpoint on the election.
Second, has anyone else had problems with their signs being stolen off their private property?

Sounds like more of the "dirty tricks" perpetrated by Gov. Moonbeam and his supporters. It's no different than his campaigns for Governor the first two times - his campaign had teams of people in pickups going around removing his opponents signs. Now he's getting more sinister (i.e. the "abused" housekeeper ruse and the plotting with his wife to call Meg Whitman a whore.)

I've had signs stolen from my yard on a regular basis. All the "No on 8" signs in my neighborhood were stolen. I've had Obama signs and McNerney signs stolen as well.
Since they left the other signs, it may be someone who wants a Whitman sign in their yard. [removed]

Folks, this is why the boards need an overhaul...
What started out as a valid thread quickly degenerated into finger-pointing and candidate bashing.
I'm not saying that any one candidate is right or wrong. The issue at hand is the theft of signs on private property, which is a different issue than the previous thread on the signs posted on public property. This wasn't a sign for Yes on Prop 19 (which might be offensive to some) or an Obama-with-a-Hitler-mustache sign (which offends me on multiple levels, but I won't go there). We all have opinions (which we all express quite freely on these boards!) and putting signs out on the lawn is just another form of expression. Whether or not you agree with the message posted, it is an insult to free speech to try and suppress someone else's opinion. Want to retaliate? Fine. Put up five Jerry Brown signs on YOUR lawn.
I pray that some shreds of sanity remain in this country by the time midterms are over.

(10/27 update) NOW THEY HAVE STOLEN OUR "CARLY" SIGN!!!
It was taken last night, from our front lawn. Our neighbor's Carly sign was also missing this morning as well. Seriously? These people are either associated or sympathetic to the Brown and Boxer campaigns and are actually committing a *crime* to try to bolster their preferred candidate.
Any undecided voters out there - think about who you are associating with: First of all, they are criminals (theft of personal property). Secondly, they are pretty stupid to risk being caught while committing this crime for an action that will (a) not meaningfully impact the race, (b) cause negative publicity for their preferred candidates, and (c) cause me to donate another $100 to each of the Meg and Carly campaigns this morning because I am so pissed off.

You are advertising your political views. Sadly, other people have ways of expressing their own. It could be worse-- I remember when a friend with a "No on Prop 8" sign got her house TPed. That's why I don't put signs out and I don't use bumper stickers.

wcd- sorry to hear that your signs are missing- but really, you know what political party the person was? And now all others who are a part of that party are criminals? I heard the teenagers in my house talking about friends who were "collecting" signs, certainly nothing to do with politics.
I will try not to judge your entire political party based on the words you chose to post, your actions, as you chose to do to mine.
