WAKE UP PLEASANTON POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE UNUSED RAILROAD TRACKS BETWEEN CASE AVE AND SUNOL BLVD. FROM BERNAL AVE TO JUNIPARO ARE A HOT BED OF ILLEGAL ACTIVITY FROM DRUG USE, FIGHTS (LOOK ON YOUTUBE, THAT EXACT SPOT),SEX, ASSULT, ROBBERY AS RECENTLY AS OCT.5 2010 TWO BOYS WERE ASSULTED AND ROBBED OF THEIR BPROPERTY AND THE SUSPECT RAN OFF INTO THE APARTMENT COMPLEX RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM PLEASANTON P.D. THESE WERE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS AND THE SUSPECT IS BELIEVED TO BE A RECENT GRADUATE OF AMADOR AND POSSABLY AN EMPLYEE OF A CERTAIN BURRITO SHOP ON MAIN STREET NEXT TO A VERY POPULAR COFFEE SHOP. OUR SCHOOL CHILDREN WALK PAST THAT VERY SPOT TWICE A DAY. YOU CAN ALWAYS SEE SOMETHING A LITTLE OUT OF PLACE THERE, RIGHT ABOUT WHERE THE ACCESS TO THE SENIOR CENTER IS. THIS ALL GOES ON NEXT TO OUR MOST VULNERABLE CITIZENS (SENIORS AND SCHOOL CHILDREN) HAS ANYBODY DRIVEN THROUGH THAT COMPLEX LATELY, ITS THE WILD, WILD BOARDER TOWNS OF MEXICO YOU READ ABOUT IN THE PAPERS DAILY, THERES NO ONE UPHOLDING THE RULES IN THAT PLACE. ALL THE KIDS IN THE AREA KNOW THAT CERTAIN GROUPS OF PEOPLE ARE KNOWN TO CARRY KNIVES AROUND THAT AREA, OUR KIDS SEE THIS KIND OF ACTIVITY ALL THE TIME.

Hey Curious, maybe instead of attacking the person who is actually TRYING to get some attention to the area you can actually step up and help as well! This person obviously is upset about what is going on and OBVIOUSLY NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT, to have to post it on here!! instead of criticizing you can get your head out of your backside and HELP or do you not CARE about the crime that is going on in pleasanton and seems to be GETTING WORSE!!!! Lord help you if you have kids of your own and you pretend to live in a world of pretty roses and unicorns all around you.. maybe you should open your eyes and see that pleasanton is not as perfect as you might think it is and TRACKS see's the truth of what is going on!

Many find it difficult to read ALL CAPS TEXT of more than a few words. If you're trying to get people to not read what you've written, you've picked a pretty good plan.

Can you give us the exact link on you-tube and can you forward it directly to P.D.?
Sad situation, but need more than anecdotal proof before the police invest the time.
I've also seen quite a bit of 'activity' in the railroad right-of-way between Ray and Old Stanley in the early evenings, seems to be a place to congregate 'unseen' from the roadway.

Police are too busy hassling citizens for minor traffic infractions and parents who are dropping off or picking up kids at schools to be bothered with real crime. Besides, traffic citations bring in revenue, whereas fighting crime doesn't, and it is too much work. Pleasanton police are much more comfortable harassing a soccer mom than confronting a criminal.

It is well known issue about those apartments and those train tracks. My mother is living in the senior housing on Case Ave. It is scary. Those apartments are known by a lot of people as drug and gang infested. Definately would not take a casual walk at night around there. Ironic that it is accross the street from the police department.

I have friends who live in Ridgeview Commons, the Senior Housing complex. We often walk out the back gate and notice groups of youth loitering in the ditch. You know the ditch that sometimes you find old furniture dumped in, directly behind the Senior Center. I do not doubt that some of the behavior going on, needs to be addressed. I think there are several places in this city that people are using as spots to congregate for various activities. You know when you see used condoms on the ground what has taken place there. You know when you see little baggies much smaller than anything you keep in your kitchen, what was in those bags. These activities are going on in all cities now and should be addressed, but realize that the Pleasanton Police Dept. cannot be everywhere all the time.

You should call the Pleasanton PD [925-931-5100] and let them know instead of screaming about it in an internet forum.

I would like to also add the Kottinger Community Park, which is used by a lot of families and children has become a gathering place at night for questionable activity. I walked my dog past a pick up truck parked at the curb, and there was a couple going at it in broad daylight. There are also groups of minors who gather in the back by the BBQ to drink and smoke pot. During the summer a homeless guy even pitched a tent back there! Cops do nothing but occasionally park for a minute to catch people rolling the stop sign on Bernal.

There was certainly something odd going on about 6-7pm 10/5 off Junipero at the RR tracks: several kids and a private vehicle about 6pm followed by kids and PPD closer to 7pm. Sorry to hear some kids were assaulted, but it appeared PPD was on scene, at least initially. But it certainly would be disappointing if a follow up investigation did not happen as it further reinforces the notion that there are little/no consequences for bad behavior.
I recently discovered that these same type of thugs threaten our kids at school (FHS). Our kids know who they are and what they're about yet admin looks the other way. PPD has staff on campus yet drugs and weapons are still prevalent. Again, no consequences for the offenders.

What people need to do is call the Pleasanton Police Department, whenever they see these kids gathering, drinking and doing drugs. You can call them for making too much noise or being out after 11 pm. Pleasanton does have curfew laws on minors. The more people that call the more the police know what is happening and can attend to it. Also the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Like another poster said, the Police can't be everywhere. Set up neighborhood watches and get the residence whose homes have a view of these areas call police when they see the activity.

The It's All About Me Soccer Moms & Dads parking in red zones, creating grid lock, making illegal turns around and showing disrespect for other drivers around our schools have earned the right to be 'hassled' by PPD. Most of our schools were never designed to handle the volume of cars that drop off/pick up kids each day--let alone the high traffic volume we see now with the schedule changes--and they are just making it more unsafe for our kids and the other drivers who have to put up with them.
Thanks, TRACKS, for alerting us to an area that is unsafe for our kids. I hope PPD makes it a priority make thugs praying on our children and seniors feel considerably more unwelcome here.

Hey middle school parent, I actually had a good incident with Pleasanton PD where they helped me out and arrested someone who had victimized me. So before you go saying something like that, open your eyes. They wouldnt hassle you if you werent part of the problem.

I would like to say that as a former high school student at amador, it is very easy to get drugs. I have never done drugs myself, but many of my friends do. If I wanted to I could get drugs in five mins. Anyone older than fourteen can. There are far to many people dealing and buying drugs for the cops to stop them. I think the cops should focus more on the vandalism and larger crimes (such as the big drug dealers) instead of going after the drivers going five over the speed limit and students just getting high after class. If the PPD cracks down on the big guys the small time offenders will have a harder time. And I agree... Tracks you should call the police!

I agree, Tracks if you havent already you should call the police. I have heard PPD made an arrest related to the event you talked about near Case, but it is second hand info so i dunno. I agree that area needs more police involvement, bad things have happneed in that area since I attended PMS and that was a long time ago!

This is why Pleasanton needs more low-income housing.
1) We need a bigger gang problem
2) We need weapons in our schools
3) Our kids need to deal with punks
4) We need more drugs in Pleasonton
No action will be taken until someone is hurt or worse.
For the people more concerned about the massage, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. Please get a life!
The PD is part of the problem but the city counsel is also part of the problem.
For the soccer moms slamming the PD maybe you should get off your cell phone when driving, drop/pick-up your kids in line not the middle of the street, stop rolling thought stop signs and running red lights.
