Americans willing to commit terrorist acts--- is growing.

Original post made by Ron, Bordeaux Estates, on Sep 22, 2010

I wonder where the anger towards the U.S. comes from? Could it stem from all these past years of our occupation in the middle east with our U.S. soldiers busting down doors and slaughtering these peoples aunts, uncles, cousins, woman and children? I wonder how willing Americans would be to react with rage and hatred if our Country had been invaded, occupied for years and our kin were slaughtered right before our eyes? But then again as George W said, "were doing GOD'S work"......

There invasions and occupations made the U.S. much more unsafe, period! Nothing gained what so ever and our Country is trillions in debt.

ABC News:

The nation's top counterterrorism officials were blunt. The threat from within---of Americans willing to commit terrorist acts--- is growing. FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III told a congressional hearing today that a spike in recent terrorism cases is direct evidence of the evolving threat.

"Groups affiliated with al Qaeda are now actively targeting the United States and looking to use Americans or Westerners who are able to remain undetected by heightened security measures," Mueller said. "It appears domestic extremism and radicalization appears to have become more pronounced based on the number of disruptions and incidents."

Mueller appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee along with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and National Counterterrorism Chief Michael Leiter.

We secured our oil interest in the region so that is a huge gain. That alone is worth many trillions. Thank you, W!

It's not "our" oil. It belongs to the people in the oil-producing countries.

I thought America could get oil by buying it? Do we have to steal it now?

And what's this "we" stuff, anyway? By "we" don't you mean the big oil companies and their shareholders?

By coincidence--and I'm sure it is just a coincidence!--President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice (among many other Bush administration officials)--were all oil company executives.

The United States arouses anger in a way Canada doesn't because the government of the United States uses its military--larger than all the militaries of the other nations combined--to bully other nations and to help keep brutal, "pro-American" dictators in power. The United States government, during the Bush era, went from supporting torturers to employing them.

American soldiers went to Iraq and Afghanistan because their Commander in Chief sent them. The soldiers are not to blame; it is we, the people, who allowed this to happen, and the war criminals in the Bush administration who orchestrated it, who are the guilty parties.

Sure, I understand why people in other countries hate the United States. And funny thing is, most of them don't seem to want revenge; they just want us to take the knife away from their throats.

Ron,

That hatred comes straight from the Qu'ran. You should read it. When you do, keep in mind that the Qu'ran says that subsequent writings replace earlier writings. So, you should read it with that in mind, and focus on the later parts. You will be enlightened.

Isn't the article about terrorists that were born and grew up in the US? It sounds like most of you didn't read it.

By the way, do any of you have a memory longer than 10 years? Do you remember the students in Iran taking our embassy officials hostage? How about the Marines in Beirut?

Did any of you realize that Western companies found the oil in the Middle East, then Western nations formed the current mix of countries and gave them the rights to the oil? The people of the Middle East were pretty nomadic and tribal, and probably didn't care too much about the oil at the time, but they were basically granted the wealth by the West. Now the selfish leaders of their countries blame the West for their troubles, and keep the wealth for themselves. Why is there such poverty and hatred? Because of the despots, not the US.

They "hate" us because they are envious. Europe and the middle east cannot stand the fact that the USA is #1 by all measures imaginable.

Steve - very well put - I couldn't agree with you more. It concerns me deeply that so many people are sheeps and not informed.

Steve states:

We are the greatest country in the world. Our President Obama has returned us to our position as the respected leader of the free world. The dark days of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice are behind us but many in the world do not understand that we have corrected our policy from that period. The United States can be trusted again. We will never again invade a country for no reason. We will protect our people and country and we will capture and kill Osama Bin Laden. This policy is understood as fair as they attacked us and we have every right to attack them.

Yeah, W started it all by attacking the US first, didn't he? You freakin liberals would have just stood by and let the terrorists attack us again and again. At least W took the fight to the enemy in Afghanistan. Terrorist know all they have to do is say "Boo" to a bleeding heart liberal to get whatever advantage they need. I love how you libs always bring out the falsehood of we went there for the oil. Talk about sheep's! If you libs would allow the US to explore and drill for oil in our own reserves, there would be no need to get oil from the middle east. Oh, but you're a NIMBY when it comes to drilling for oil in the US. Let other countries manipulate us because they produce it and we allow the libs and enviro's to hand cuff us. This topic is the same rhetoric that always spills from the mouths of your likes. Guess you need to drum up some sort of scare tactic as you watch your 'chosen one' go down in flames while dragging the rest of his cronies with him.

One of the darkest parts of the Bush years is that he took his eyes off the ball and went after Saddam and let Osama Bin Laden get away to still plan attacks on our country. We are still suffering from this total dereliction of duty by our past commander in chief. Now as Pres Obama pledged in the last election we have a new focus on the ones that attacked us on 9/11 .

You apologists make me sick. Our sad excuse for a president has done more to undermine the security of America, than any president before him. He refuses to protect our border, and advocates amnesty and benefits for illegal aliens. He'd rather sue Arizona, instead of supporting them to protect us. Not to mention him bowing to each and every government official he meets, and offending our true allies with his ignorance and snobbery. He's single-handedly made America into a laughingstock.

And "Yet Another Teacher", I really hope you don't teach history or social studies, because you have no clue about those subjects. Just the thought of you teaching ANYTHING, makes me weep for the future of Pleasanton students. I'm glad my kids don't go to Hart, so they won't be subjected to your ridiculous Marxist rants. Miss the sixties much?

I can't speak for the Muslim world, having never been to that section of the globe, but I know from talking to people during my travels abroad that Obama is MUCH more respected than Bush ever was... That doesn't seem much like "run[ning] down our country and belittl[ing] our standing in the world, discrediting the notion of American exceptionalism".

Maria you speak truth.

I find it curious that these Republican conservatives are usually good GOD fearing folks, however they continue to HATE their neighbors and display the most unChristian actions and continue to spill words of hatred and intolerance not stop. Makes their supposed values and cause look really stupid and hypocritical.

I am Christian and attend a large church. The Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh type rants and buzz words ,"sheeple, bleeding heart liberals" etc. are just as common as "Hi, how are you" these days at church and related functions.

Makes one think very seriously about those they choose to assocaite with.

SOOOOOO many assumptions, by so many. SO SAD ! SO SICK. So, let's see, ASSUMPTIONS above say Republicans are god fearing, Democrats are not....and W made us use foreign oil.
Now, I'm confused. Who fits where. I am a conservative, but not a christian crusader. Religion has no place in government, as I see it. But, as a fiscal conservative I couldn't stand with any Dems.
Pelosi and politicians owned by leftist green zealots who ignore all logical and scientific basis of facts are the VERY ones who FORCE us to use foreign oil. They prohibit use of domestic, North American petroleum , and would rather shut down the US economy, than expand the necessary and inevitable use of more nuclear power or develop the various gasses, oils, & sands in abundance on our continentant SO... how will be ever solve anything ? ..with such ignorant people, making false assumptions.

Do you remember a time before "W" and his cronies, when times were good. They got us into the economic mess we are in and because it cannot be fixed with the wave of a hand you blame the current administration? Get your heads out of the sand! 8 years of mismanagement and corruption does not go away overnight.

They are all crooks and should be voted out D and R both.

Abolish the 2 party system of crooks before it implodes our country.
The electoral college is antiquated. But since we cannot count votes anyway - I guess we need to stick to it.

Maybe we should have taken up arms when the election was given away by the one entity in government that is supposed to uphold truth, justice and the American way.

We are ALL to blame for letting that nation wide injustice go un-contested
