The Santa Rita Freeway
Around Town, posted by Alan, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on May 29, 2008 at 12:40 pm

Speeding on Santa Rita Road is the norm, and children are often crossing it. There needs to be regular police presence on Santa Rita. I am on Santa Rita Road several times a day, and I should be seeing police ticketing cars every single day. Unfortunaely, I'm not. I would like to use this venue to ask the Pleasanton Police Department to protect our children by stopping speeders on Santa Rita Road on a daily basis. Drivers should be afraid to speed on Santa Rita because of the police presence. Unfortunately, as of now, they are not. It's a free for all, especially at rush hour when commuters come off 580 and race down Santa Rita towards the Valley intersection as if they're still on the freeway.

Good luck, they are also speeding on Bernal, Valley, and especially Vineyard for cut through traffic. There are not enough police available to accomplish what you ask for. The only answer to this is to put in all of the interchanges and flyovers that have been voted on, promised and will likely never be installed. Until they are this is what we are going to have to deal with.

Are the Pleasanton police so busy that they can't make ticketing speeders a priority? What are they busy doing?
