Streetwise

Who is this inept woman - Lynn Cronin in the Streetwise section of Friday's paper when asked "Would you like to see a pet cemetery in Pleasanton?" She replied "I don't think there should be a pet cemetery in Pleasanton, becuase I think when they're gone, they're gone."

Clearly NOT a pet lover.

I wonder if this nut feels the same way about people? Her parents, siblings and the children she teaches?

What a cold hearted statement.

Hopefully her loved ones will remember that statement when she passes on. She doesn't need a cemetary - She's Gone.

Sicko!

Harsh! Whatever happened to "everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion"? Wow! What about acceptance of people and their different viewpoints? I am a pet owner/lover and I know that when that day comes for our almost 11 year old Golden Retriever, it will be sad for us as a family. AND I see no need for a pet cemetery. If I want a place to 'visit' our family pet after he has passed on, I can plant a tree in his honor, donate a park bench, etc.

Everyone has different viewpoints. We are supposed to be evolved enough to honor and accept those differences.

I will tell you who Lynn Cronin is: probably one of the best teachers my kids ever had! She's far from inept, and is a gem of a person. That's who she is!

I think it is better to just state your own opinion and not insult people with differing views on this forum.

Well when Lynn passes on - maybe we can just plant a tree in her memory.

I stand by everything I said. I am passionate about my animals!

I wouldn't want anyone around my kids who felt this inhumane about pets. Ick!

I thought my idea of planting a tree, donating a park bench, etc. was a positive contribution! You've obviously taken it the wrong way.

Glad to hear you are passionate about your children. Wish more parents felt that way and took care in raising their children in a positive, responsible way. I do not, however, know what gave you the impression that Lynn's response was inhumane to animals? I believe that when a loved one, whether it's a family member or family pet, passes on they are in a much better place, yes, I'll say it HEAVEN. We are the ones that are suffering because of their absence.

This just goes to prove my earlier point that we are a community of different opinions and views and we should all respect each other. Now, that's something we should be teaching our children! Respect and compassion!!!!

I agree - teach Respect and Compassion - I don't get that from her quote in the paper.

wow just because ccwc is passionate about his/her animals, those of us who are not as passionate as s/he is don't even deserve a proper burial. That's the "smartest" thing I've ever heard. Pets are pets and cannot be equated with human, EVER. If your pet dies, go buy yourself another. You cannot "buy" another human being so human life is much much more sacred and precious than those of pets. I'm sorry if you can't understand that but you are entitled to your opinion.

And another non-pet lover chimes in. How dare you say 'just go out and buy yourself another' pet. Wow! You obviously have not loved a pet or had one give you unconditional love back.

I could say the same - you lost a kid - go make yourself a new one.

Wow! Are we living backwoods??

@ ccwc:

And how dare YOU to judge me when you don't even know me. Pets are pets and are replaceable. Get a life!

That's just the kind of thinking that gets you no where. NONE of my pets are 'replaceable' - they are part of our family - till the end.

I HAVE a life! A very good one I might add.

Why don't you take a walk and kick a puppy!

ccwc, you seem to have a hard time accepting the fact that some people don't share the passion you have for pets. While I like animals myself, and it infuriates me to see animals being mistreated, I believe if we had the money for a pet cemetery, I would rather see it being used on needy children and seniors. As far as using public funds for animals, a much more needed use of money would be to neuter pets. We have way too many unwanted pets, and this could help alleviate the problem.

I don't think my views make me a pet hater, because I don't think I am. I just happen to see things in a different way.

CCWC needs to get a grip. They are just animals. Its only by the luck of location that they are not on the acceptable food list.

It does not mean we can't enjoy their company and companionship, and be sorry when they are gone. However, when you elevate them to anything more than that you are letting your priorities becoume severely out of whack.

I don't need to kick a puppy, but kicking some sense into you would be enjoyable!

I wish YOU would get a grip.

The are JUST animals! Oh wow! Are you warped or what!

My priorities are not out of whack.

I supposed we need to let this go and agree to disagree!

Have a nice pet free life. I'd hate for any animal to be with any of the above.

Hmmm,

I would rather see the money being spent on enforcing leash laws, and seeing that people that don't pick up after their animals get a stiff fine. I'm sick of having my front lawn be dogs' bathroom.

I heard it as a very healthy response...and probably said with a sad sigh, like... no...' when they're gone, they're gone '.....and nothing will bring them back. I'm sure those were her thoughts and unsaid words.. ..Must we ALL think alike ! I don't worship decaying skeltons.
And I will add the same for humans, accept it, they're gone ! (use heaven, if you wish. I don't). You can live in the past or the future. (however, I still have a tiny box of ashes of my favorite, very special pet...who is gone, but lives in my heart).

I rather like that suggestion of spending on neutering......for humans. There is nothing more heartless and CRUEL than those who breed IRresponsibly. Starving children here & in Mexico whose parents CONTINUE to breed more is a crime against humanity..... But their pope think that's a great idea. just push off the costs onto already burdened US taxpayers ! But, we wouldn't dare talk truth to power and tell the pope to join the 21st century OR, here's the honorable thing to do....pay up to care for what you have wrought and irresponsibly bred. NOT MY responsibility...but seems to be my problem.. .I act responsibily, is it too much to expect that of others ? Where's my financial FREEDOM ! You breed 'em, you feed 'em. The pope & they are selfish and irresponsible... Maybe I could send the IRS several cartons of condoms...instead of money. I think it is a waste to keep sending food to poor countries...better to teach them 'how to fish' ( and USE condoms ). THEN they might have a FUTURE...otherwise, their future will be the same as their past...more STARVING babies. Truly HELP them.. SEND CONDOMS ! ! US taxpayers need to get back on OUR feet. Let the churches step up to THEIR responsibilities..DO THEY INCLUDE CONDOMS IN THEIR CARE PACKAGES ?

So ccwc, you don't like being judged by the words you print, yet you find it appropriate to judge Mrs. Cronin based on one sentence she said in the paper. This is justification to print negative comments about the type of person and teacher she is? Mrs. Cronin is an amazing, compassionate teacher and person, not deserving of your public smear of her name.

Your double standard, plus lack of printing your real name tell it all. I will take Mrs. Cronin's character over yours any day.

What a strange thread! Why does her statement make her "inept?"

I have a feeling the person who started this thread is not well

To Really? You comment that I didn't use my 'real' name - is your 'real' name Really?

And as for your Nurst Shark - don't make me laugh - so many jokes on that one. Not Well. You do not know me one bit.

I think the people who are not well are all of those above who hold pets in such disregard as mere objects. Just floors me!

Again - let's all agree to disagree!

Good one Jerry! That gave me a chuckle! I'm also a fan of Cholo! NOT!

Again PEOPLE - let's agree to disagree - MY goodness!
