Original post made on Aug 27, 2010

Drunken drivers might sober up in September over a bill that aims to revoke licenses from repeat offenders who drive under the influence.

If someone has 3 or more DUI's a suspension will only encourage that person to drive without license or insurance. Obviously the first few DUI's didn't teach him anything. A better idea might be a Breathalyzer starting device, vehicle confiscation and jail time.

Tomwho2...somewhat of a good idea but not enough. Forget the jail, unless he/she injures someone. Medicate the fool so when he/she takes ONE drink, the body reacts (vomit and pain)

It's about time!!! How many people have been killed or injured by drunk drivers?Revoke license, impound car and sell it giving the proceeds to a family who has lost someone to a drunken driver and on top of that, some solid jail time.

We should not have repeat DUI's. One DUI is enough, isn't it?

They then need to get serious about driving without a license, we could copy the Warden from Maricopa County, AZ on how to deal with these people. He has them cleaning the side of the roads and empty lots in chains.

Looks good on paper, but won't work. They will drive anyway! Driving is no longer a privilege , it's a necessity . People will do what they have to do. How bought a unique license plate that will distinguish repeat DUI offenders that are on the road! That way not only will they be more visible to police, but to the public as well.

Hey lets just put people in jail for anything and as long as we can. That will solve our problems. America is ruthless and it's people.

I don't know what the answer is, but this isn't it.

My gut feeling is, most people will still drive (does anyone have hard evidence to support or refute this statement?).

I can't knock the bill, it sends a message. But it's not a solution.

Tony has a great idea. After a conviction the driver gets a new license plate that indicates a DUI. Now the police can stop and test that driver anytime for any reason. Over the limit? Immediately to jail, forfeit the car. Driving without a license? Off to jail, forfeit the car. Not your car? I don't care, the owner of the car can deal with the drunk driver later.
There should be a huge annual renewal fee added to the registration. The only way to stop these idiots is to cost them money and their vehicles. There is no other motivation.

Yes, it is the MULTIPLE DUIs that need to be treated as criminal.
Like the Danville couple of a young mom walking with 2 small children at sunset It was the NINTH .. DUI ..for the DRUNK WOMAN who went up over the curb & KILLED the children ! That was the FAULT of the last 2 -3 JUDGES who didn't lock her up. I think making a triple go without a license is good. It is hard to live without] a license, which you need to SHOW about every day....it would be difficult to exist without a license. Looks like this allows judges the 'AUTHORITY" to revoke the licence, which is NOT STRONG enough....loss should be mandatory after 3. Obviously, many judges are too weak to yank the DL !

Watch out for rick on the road. Anyone who doesn't think that repeat DUI offenders belong in jail needs to have his blood alcohol level tested. I'm constantly amazed at the level of 'tolerance' show by mst bleeding hearts, to the point that they would continue to endanger others because they sympathize with these types of losers.
Talk about misplaced priorities........wait until it impacts you.

This is a do nothing law. Very few repeat DUIs have driver's licenses. A third DUI should be punished by cutting off both ears. The person should have - DUI - tattooed on their forehead and be required to use special drunk plates.
