Bocce ball's Bernardi headed for 'fierce' world competition

Pleasanton's Joey Bernardi, U.S. Under-21 bocce ball champ, is headed for the International Championships being held in Rome starting Sept. 27. He expects intense competition from other countries, especially Italy, Brazil, Canada and China.

Joey, I too love bocce and play regularly at the Adobe Courts in Castro Valley. I will be cheering for you to bring home a trophy.
