Posted by Pleasanton RENTER, a resident of the Vineyard Avenue neighborhood, on May 17, 2008 at 9:01 pm Stacey,
Would I be right in guessing that you own your home and do not rent...correct? We need you to help us...we need you to see our plight. We need you to care.
While every CA renter will be part of this, I live in a senior park. We are scared for ourselves and for our neighbors. Many here are retired and on social security. Some have been living here many years and get very little each month. If they REMOVE rent control, there may well be many new homeless people in Pleasanton. We don't want to be, but the rents will go up and we are stretched now.
Now can you see why we are concerned? Perhaps if there are several blogs, they will show several views, giving people a chance to understand just how UNFAIR and downright CONFUSING Prop 98 & 99 really are.
Notice in the Living (Real Estate Section) of this weeks Pleasanton Weekly the article on the CA Association of Realtors by Jeb Bing. The realtors are the 'other side' of these Propositions. THEY are LANDLORDS. Of course they want Props 98 & 99 to go the other way. Why??? $$$$$ in their pockets!
I hope you will read up on 98-99, see for yourself and vote with your heart. Keep the renters in mind.
We are young adults wanting to stay in CA near home.
We are parents that cannot afford to buy a home.
We are grandparents, downsizing as we retire and need to live on SS.
We are your neighbors.
We are real.

Part of the reason I started a new post...I find all caps hard to read and distracting.
To all who support us, by voting June 3rd with: No on 98 - Yes on 99
We thank you!
