Harmer should not even be considered as our Rep. HARMER DOES NOT EVEN LIVE IN OUR DISTRICT. We have a great Congressman Jerry McNerney that is always working hard for us on issues important to us all. He understands and lives in the District.

DublinMike,
The stakes are high and I would say both sides...liberals and conservatives...are desperate.

Liberals are desperate to destroy America while they still have a majority in Congress.

Conservatives are desperate to save America and to stop the liberals.

How is it conservative to bail out failed companies with tax dollars? That is corporate socialism. That is what Henry Paulson gave us with the TARP program in October 2008. Harmer should pay back his severance. If the company had been allowed to fail, he would never have gotten the money.

Just to clarify, in case my post was misunderstood: Harmer did nothing wrong. It was perfectly legal for him to accept his severance package. He would make a very positive statement for his campaign if he paid it back.

Working in the corporate world, what Harmer received is no different than what any other member in executive management would have received. I guess I have to explain it to you all - the bonus is part of a salary package, the severance is what you received when your services are terminated albeit laid off which can occur when a company is losing money or trying to cut overhead. The unemployment that David received is what any person files for when they are laid off - it is money that employers contribute into the "system" while you work for them. So, was David wrong to take any of these things - no he worked for them and is entitled to them. Now as for McNearny - McNerney is a rank and file Democrat - votes with Pelosi >95% of the time, he is a follower according to statistical analysis of bills in this legislative session. McNerney tends to cosponsors the bills of other Members of Congress who do not cosponsor McNerney's own bills. In addition McNearny has sponsored 22 bills since Jan 4, 2007 of which 18 haven't made it out of committee and none were successfully enacted. Jerry has portrayed himself as a moderate while voting lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats on federal stimulus, cap-and-trade/tax and the government takeover of health care among other. McNerny believes in creating job, but only government jobs - not private sector jobs. Anyway, its time for a change.
