Where will Ice Rink be? Around Town, posted by B. Byrd, a resident of the Downtown neighborhood, on Jul 14, 2010 at 10:16 pm
I got in the mail today the Fall/Winter City recretion guide.
It says you can find out about the Ice Rink on page 59, and sign-up for kid's ice skating classes on page 11. But, when i went to those pages, nothing about the Ice Rink.
Are the Sharks really coming to Pleasanton, and will they have the holiday Ice Rink at the Library again this year? I'd like to see it in Downtown, not at City Hall.
I dont really care if the Sharks build a permanent rink by 580.

If Fiahlo and hosterman get their way the rink will be on the corner of Angela and First. Hosterman has stated in public recently that she intends to put the rink in that park. That will be the place where your child can be killed crossing the street without a stoplight. There is very little parking available on the same side of First as the park where they want to put the rink. Therefore, most rink users will park in the residential neighborhoods and cross the street in the dark without a stop light. Know the name of a good attorney and let the lawsuits roll, the city management and leadership is just dumb enough to try this again.

I live near 3rd and Neal. I hope that they put it at Delucchi Park instead of somewhere that doesn't make sense like the Library. Hopefully my minority, nimby neighbors won't ruin it for the majority again.

Good luck, trekmtb. With these people you refer to, a pod of bullies connected with a couple City Council people (couple=2), it's best if the Sharks tell Ptown to go fly a kite.

Wny not the Sports Park, in the huge open parking lot there? I understand that one of the purposes was to bring more business downtown, but with the rink at the very far end of the downtown area, it really wasn't very close to any businesses that were open in the evenings. Perhaps some of the downtown merchants (Cold Stone, Tullys) could set up a concession stand near the rink to sell hot chocolate or ice cream?
