Soccer: The Perfect Socialist Sport ... State, National, International, posted by Yawner, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Jun 24, 2010 at 12:20 pm
This is why I hate (to watch) soccer. Ok, I'll admit it can be fun to actually play the game. But give me a break. It is boring to watch. Ok, I used to play baseball thru college freshman as well. Fun to play. Boring to watch.
But this author pinpoints other reasons why I hate soccer. It is the perfect socialist's sport...for many reasons.

You know, what's really a yawner is the drivel that posters feel the need to litter this forum with.
Take this whole "soccer is a socialist sport" thing that has cropped up since the world games began. I would bet that there are plenty of Tea Party/Republican "patriots" who support their children or grandchildren on one of the Pleasanton soccer leagues, or their school teams.
So "yawner", you find soccer boring . . . big deal! Don't go to or watch any games. It's that easy! You have that choice.
Frankly, any sport that interests a child or adult and gets them energized enough to exercise and outdoors to play is NOT a bad thing! It's certainly gotta be better for them than trolling the web looking for opinion pieces on any subject that include the words socialist/marxist/communist/blah blah blah . . .

Rae, I find your criticism about this article with poignant observations about soccer to be boring so I'll stop reading your posts until you develop a sense of humor. One too many headers for you, I suppose.

Glenn Beck told me soccer is turnin' our youth communist! We need to stop the annual soccer parade and build a NASCAR track around downtown with a Walmart in the middle.

I didn't read the article, but still had 2 comments:
1) Why so much obsession with Socialism
2) Soccer doesn't feel "socialist" here in P-Town when you can spend almost $400 for a kid 7-18 years old to play REC flight! After that there is lettering, banners, trophies, snacks, costumes, etc. to purchase. I'd say Capitalism is more at work here.

Dang! I knew that Pleasanton was populated all this time by a bunch of socialists! Now I know why Amy, Steve and ! get all wound up... they drive by the sports fields and just get all lathered up about those "socialists" wrecking the fields that they paid for!
But, Yawner, I think they mean soccer is a 'social' sport... :)

I find it disturbing that a lunatic like Glen Beck comes up with a unbelievably stupid comment like the one came up saying soccer is a socialist sport, and then all these people follow his words like it was the law. Scary not to say the least.

Yes, every kid playing 8 and under soccer all the way through middle school in Pleasanton and other American cities throughout the world should take this advice to heart. I mean the exciting games of golf, country club excessive drinking, Glenn Beck watching and going to the library (another socialist plot) should be banned immediately.

Since I'm playing for the team from Argentina this week, I'll do my best to take out the German team. I'll just kick 3 or 4 goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooals and the crowd will roar with delight! Everybody at home will cheer up when they notice that I'm the one that kicked the goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool! read, set, gooooooooooal!

Did any of you mental midgets even read the article? It was a humorous piece meant to poke fun at the soccer zealots, of which there are apparently many on this forum. Glenn Beck didn't write the article, but you would know that if you had actually read it.
Read it again once you develop a sense of humor.....but maybe that's an impossible task for you leftists...no wonder you're so angry and defensive all the time.
