Arrests are up but fatalities are down in the Bay Area so far this Memorial Day weekend, according to statistics released Sunday by the
California Highway Patrol.

Does anyone know if the maximum enforcement periods, which CHP has around 80% of their officers working, is paid by the state or is grant money from the federal government given to the state?

The money comes out of the CHP donut fund.
