The law is not going to stop the bad people from getting the guns, only the honest people. Got to remember the 2nd amendment protect the citizens the right keep and bear arms.

Isn't it said that it would matter to anybody how much a person could have contributed to the economy? That's irrelevant. He was a precious person, like all our children, and that's what matters.

I don't understand why someone would want to open carry but even if the practice is banned bad guys would still rob good people, shoot good people and kill good people.

Why, because bad guys don't care about the gun laws. Only the good people do.

I read a story or two a week that spells out how a felon or a parole was caught with a gun. Didn't they know they weren't supposed to carry a gun and bullets? Of course they did. They don't care!

Bad guys in California love that good people like your son can't carry a gun to defend themselves. I think good people like your son should have a choice to carry concealed or not.

A MAJORITY of the states allow the good guys to carry. Has it turned into crazy bloodshed? No! Just the opposite. Good people are defending themselves and the bad guys are less likely to commit the crimes out of fear of not knowing if there potential victim is packing or not!

It's not rocket science. Pretend your a bad guy with a loaded gun and I tell you to pick a victim out of two candidates. Candidate A may or may not be packing. Candidate B is definitely not packing. Which would you obviously choose?

That was the simple version of interviews that have been conducted of criminals in state prisons as to what type of victim or home they would choose to attack.

In California, all you hear is bad things about guns based on what bad guys do but not how guns are used by good guys to stop the bad guys. Well here ya go:

Sorry for your loss. But as others have stated, it's not laws which prevent people from shooting people. It's against the law to commit all kinds of crime but that doesn't prevent it. Thieves don't play by the same rules that non-thieves do and making it tougher to buy/carry/license weapons won't get them out of the hands of career criminals who probably are already felons and breaking the law by having possession of a firearm to begin with.

As if making it illegal to buy drugs makes drugs or drug-related crimes go away or if having laws against drinking alcohol under the age of 21 prevents underage kids from getting it. In fact, sometimes these laws have the opposite effect for which they were intended (i.e. people commit larger crimes to acquire drugs or guns because they are difficult to acquire legally)

While it would be nice to believe that if we just made/enforced tougher laws the world would 'shape up and play nice' but it is very short-sighted to think so.

Personally I would feel a little silly walking around in public carrying a visible gun without ammo. Must make them feel more manly or something I guess. I guess if they wander into the wrong situation or the wrong person it will just be nature's way of thinning the herd.
