Dear President Obama:
I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico and I would like to ask you to assist me.
We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. Into Mexico , and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.
We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws..
I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over?
Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. Please print all Mexican government forms in English.
4. I want my grand kids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.
5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my grand kids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.
7. Please plan to feed my grand kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico , but, I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. Flag from my house top, put U S. Flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.
13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.
14. I want to receive free food stamps.
15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.
16. I'll need Income tax credits so although I don't pay Mexican Taxes, I'll receive money from the government.
17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Gov't pays $4,500 to help me buy a new car.
18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I'll get a monthly income in retirement.
19. And oh yes, I will expect free health care service whenever I want it even though I will not put any money into the service.
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. From Mexico . I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely..

Is it considered plagiarism when someone posts a "letter" as if they were the author and the words their own? It seems like this bit of humor has shown up as right wing input into Arizona's new "papers please" immigration law just about every time there's a blog opportunity. In fact, I think it’s even been used at least once on this forum.
A quick internet search on the phrase: "We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws" will give you an idea of just how many times it’s been repeated. I guess when you have nothing of real substance to offer towards an issue, cut, paste and repeat often is the best you can do.

After reading these responses must be a lot of mexicans out there. Does sound interesting that illegals would get all this stuff if true especially living in a state which our governor announced yesterday was effectively broke. Looks like our money is being used for illegals rather than us.

I love it when conservatives go off about illegal immigrants. You will NEVER get a Republican president to agree to strict immigration controls because their contributers, big business, makes a ton of money off of their illegal employees.
Also, does anyone know why in the world our country has ballots and other information in other languages? Because the South passed Black Codes after slavery became illegal and African-American men received the right to vote. The South forced these men to take literacy tests to prove they were smart enough to vote, highly illegal.

Australian Prime Minister does it again!!
It took a lot of courage for this man to speak what he had to say for the world to hear. The retribution could be phenomenal, but at least he was willing to take a stand on his and Australia 's beliefs.
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks..

The message does contain elements of truth, it is in fact highly misleading and inaccurate. At the outset, it should be noted that the message is now quite outdated. A high profile Australian political leader did make comments suggesting that Islamic extremists who desired to turn Australia into an Islamic state should leave.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from.

Native Americans are the only true Americans. We "have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle". All you non-Native Americans have "served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity." Although you did your best to kill us off through warfare, disease and forced marches across our country to desolate reservations without natural resources, this is still our "OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle"! You definitely have "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE"!

I don't have a problem with people wanting to preserve and practice their culture here on our soil as long as they also learn and accept the American language and culture. After a few generations, most of these new immigrant families will undoubtedly assimilate with the mainstream culture. It's no different than those German, Italian, and Irish immigrants who flooded into our country during the 18/1900s. They initially formed their own communities and had their own cultures but those cultures later became a part of the American culture as we know and love today, hence the celebration of St. Patricks for example.
I'd say let nature takes its course. People will inevitably assimilate in time...forcing people to do so against their will only yield undesirable results.
If you don't like the fact that the American culture will be redefined as people from other ethnic group assimilate into our culture, then maybe you should exercise your right to whine and then leave. True patriotism is to love this country regardless of which course it takes. That, my friend, is what it means to BE AN AMERICAN.
