Amador Girls Softball Defeats Top Ranked Cal Hi
Sports, posted by Lori J. Rice, a member of the Amador Valley High School community, on May 6, 2010 at 8:52 am

Maggi Horn, late to the game due to an AP Stats test, decicded to take matters into her own hands to help her team beat the Grizzlies in her first at bat of the game. Zoe Price lead off the 8th inning with a single, Macy Masajlo put down a sacrifice bunt, and Maggi Horn hit a double off the wall to score Amador's first run. The Dons didnt stop there. Krista Williams found some room in the outfield to drop another double to score Maggi from second. The Dons went into the bottom of the 8th in route of protecting a 2-0 lead.

The Dons were spotless defensively and made some fantastic plays. Brooke Quesinberry started behind the plate today and did a phenomenal job managing the game and threw out a runner at third base. Haley Douglas went the full 8 innings in the circle and kept the Grizzly hitters off all day. Haley allowed only 4 hits and 2 walks with 8 strike outs. Haley helped her team improve to 6-2 in EBAL.

After some lean years for the program, the Dons (12-6, 6-2 EBAL) find themselves tied with Livermore (12-3, 6-2) for first place, a half-game up on California (12-4, 6-3). The Dons take on San Ramon at home on Thursday at 4pm.
