Police on Black by Santa Rita

Original post made by Ptown resident on May 4, 2010

Today 4-4-2010 at around 3:30 pm, a police car stopped and it looked like the policeman was questioning a teen. Later, more police cars arrived and a bit later, an ambulance and a fire truck.

This happened on Black avenue, across from the post office in that parking lot at the entrance of the preschool (next to the aquatic center)

Does anyone know what happened?

Please do not respond to this post.

Relying on citizens to report facts has proven dismal in this community. Remember the posts last week about the abandoned house on First St. where a reputable local realtor was maligned by gossip and innuendo in these blogs over the upkeep of a property he did not own?

Call the PPD if you are so desperate to know, or wait for the hometown press to print it.

Sorry Jane...
Pretty serious "gang" fight at Amador. Witnessed by lots of kids right after school. Will wait for news from PPD (that may never happen) as to what really went down. I'm sure there's footage from cell phones on You-Tube. My kids saw it from their friends' phones. Fortunately they missed the fight.

Thanks for the info, Susan. That would explain why the teen was being handcuffed and the police called for backup. What I don't understand is why send in a fire truck and ambulance as well.

The PW should report on this. They reported on the alleged attempted rape from the UC Davis, I would think this deal about the gang fight right here in our backyard is more relevant news, we need to know so we can tell our kids and thay can be careful, I have friends with kids at Amador

My understanding is it got pretty ugly! My kids told me a kid got a head injury...hence the ambulance and fire truck. Don't know for sure, but the video showed the kid/kids getting pummelled pretty hard, indicating possible injuries. I'm sure the kids will get an earful today at school. So sad.

It's my understanding that whenever anyone calls 911 to report an emergency or crime in progress, the ambulance AND fire engine AND local police are dispatched to the scene, especially if someone indicates that someone might have been hurt. Trained fire department crew may be the first responders for emergency medical services, and it seems that they often are first on the scene here in Pleasanton, (by local protocol?) handing an injured person over to the ambulance crew once triaged and administering emergency care.

Just my observation, from past incidents.

Word amongst Amador students is that the kids involved are gang members. Is the PW looking into this or are we just going to ignore the incident?

I agree with the comments here except for "Jane's". If the citizens of pleasanton feel like discussing local happenings, that's totally fine. If you don't like people are saying Jane, just click out of this thread and read something else.

I for one wouldn't always want to rely on the newspaper to communicate what happened. I like looking at more than one source...
