Bridget Melson, founder of the Pleasanton Tea Party group, said she is calling on her members and other like-minded people to boycott San Francisco after Mayor Gavin Newsom and other city officials who condemned the law earlier this week.

So I guess those of us who work in San Francisco should stop going there to make Melson happy? Any thoughts?

Wait, so let me get this straight. The Tea Partiers who stand for small government and less government spending are now embracing a law that increases government's power, infringes on liberties, and is going to cost cities and counties untold amounts in extra manpower and court costs. Doesn't that seem a bit hypocrital?

I hope Melson and her "like-minded" followers truly do boycott SF. It will make SF a much nicer place to visit.

I have cancelled our dinner reservation for next weekend and told the resaurant why we are unable to spend the evening in San Francisco.

To 'Curious' - Putting your exaggerations aside for the moment, I would be glad to measure the increased cost of enforcing existing law, with the possible benefits of a decrease in crime, decrease in cost of social services, decrease in hospital ER costs, and more. I would bet that government would be smaller and spend less.

Linda,

"I have cancelled our dinner reservation for next weekend and told the resaurant why we are unable to spend the evening in San Francisco."

Did you tell them you couldn't go to dinner because your a racist bigot who fears Hispanics?

If Melson wants to move to AZ, I would gladly pay the ticket to ship this fake-tan bigot to AZ. I just want to puke knowing this white-supremacist piece of trash lives in this town.

I am sick to death of people suggesting that the Tea Party is racist. Just because we're white, we oppose a black president and we support keeping Mexicans out of Arizona doesn't mean we're racist! Some of my best friends are blacks and Mexicans!

TO all you Tea party people: Have you gone mad? I refuse to believe that you would blindly support a law that discriminates a whole ethnic group based on the color of their skin. I know that we need immigration reform, but do you really want to support a law that says that if you look "suspicious"(code for Hispanic)you have to prove that you have a legal right to be in the country? Answer me this, if you were a police officer, what would you be looking for? Be honest. What is the distinction that you would make in pulling someone over vs another? I would sincerely love to hear your answer.

TI: so what? This problem needs to be resolved, and if this is how we have to go about it, so be it. You radical liberals don't have what it takes to get the job done, so leave it to the Tea Party to fix it!

* Being Fiscally Conservative

* Getting BACK to following the Constitution

One must ask, does the Arizona law promote fiscal conservatism, represent the will of the people of Arizona, limit government, conform to the Constitution?

Making sure our representatives represent US! Us being the American race, not citizens of another coutnry!

TO Pleasanton mom: Wow I really hope that you are not a typical representative of the Mad Tea Party... By American race are you trying to say that our representatives should be white or were you trying to say that our U. S. Representatives should be american citizens? Last time I checked we did not have an " American race". Proponents of slavery in the 19th century used the term "race" to justify the retention of slavery. Odd you would use that word.

"if you look "suspicious"(code for Hispanic)you have to prove that you have a legal right to be in the country? "

You're kidding right???!!!????
So you're saying that if someone is: 1)Acting suspiciously AND 2) here illegally ... we wouldn't want to do something about THAT??!!!???

Good grief. Please tell me you don't vote (or live in Pleasanton).

TI:

You said: "Last time I checked we did not have an " American race".

Check again. We're the LEGAL residents of this country. You know, American Citizens ... aka "We The People..."

To really? So again I ask, what is suspicious activity? What type of look would you be looking for? And why yes, I do vote!

to American Citizen-I'm not even going to try to have a conversation with you because you can't write in complete English sentences.

TI: If you want to know what "suspicious" activity looks like ... I suggest you schedule a ride-along w/ your local law enforcement. It's pretty obvious.

And ... in case you're not aware, the AZ law does NOT allow people to be pulled over just to check immigration status. They have to be stopped for something else already.

Please understand that even though I'm white and I support taking a closer look at our "tan" neighbors who may have sneaked in from the south, I'm not in any way racist. I even practice my Spanish when I talk to the boy who maintains my topiary!

The best way to handle bigoted extremists like Ms. Melson is to simply ignore them. Without the blind followers she has accumulated here in Ptown to date, she will fade back into the woodwork.

And for every one on these posts, like Linda, who cancels their dinner engagements in SF, I will make two.

To 'Kay' - I'm pro-legal-immigration. I'm anti-illegal-immigration and all for enforcing the law. I'm cancelling my SF visits, so start spending more $ in SF.

By the way, if you want to ignore the 'bigoted extremists', why are you acknowledging them, and matching the cancellations 2-to-1 with reservations? So, you can either ignore and do nothing, or acknowledge and match 2-to-1. Your call.

Dark Corners -- Yes, it is my call. Six reservations, and counting, with no qualms.

Kay or whoever you are. why are you so very intolerant of some by so tolerant of others? Is it because they do not conform to your point of view so your only recourse is to lash out at them and call them names? You should attempt to use logic and rational facts.

Janet -- For the record, my name is Kay. Whatever you were insinuating by adding "or whoever you are", you missed the mark entirely.

I have chosen to make my statement to oppose Ms. Melson's boycott and the similar responses of her acolytes. If you choose to see that as intolerant, well, go right ahead. Your opinion will not, in any way, change my personal course of action.
