18 lives a day
State, National, International, posted by Wayne, a resident of Dublin, on Apr 23, 2010 at 10:28 am

This is not good. The true cost of the empire is ugly.

Why do we only act like we love our soldiers when they fight? Our greatest failure as a nation is how we foster our own ignorance.

18 veterans commit suicide each day

By Rick Maze - Staff writer

Posted : Friday Apr 23, 2010 11:09:22 EDT

Troubling new data show there are an average of 950 suicide attempts each month by veterans who are receiving some type of treatment from the Veterans Affairs Department.

Seven percent of the attempts are successful, and 11 percent of those who don’t succeed on the first attempt try again within nine months.

The numbers, which come at a time when VA is strengthening its suicide prevention programs, show about 18 veteran suicides a day, about five by veterans who are receiving VA care.

Stop the war, bring the troops home and there will be a marked increase in the survival rates of vets.

Vets are suffering enormously. Bring them home and let them have a chance to have a full life.

I saw a program on tv recently about the Dancing Boys of Afghanistan. It's all about adult males sexual abusing boys. It is simply sickening. Bring our troops HOME! Web Link

What the troops are going through is terrible and we don't need the wars. The troops should be brought home now, no excuses and no delays.

We should be spending our defense dollars at home not in Iran/Iraq. Get out ... there is no justifiable reason to work with these countries ... they do not like us ... the want to destroy us. Get rid of the radical Muslims in our country that want to kill people for cartoons (the SouthPark fiasco). We don't want our kids over there anymore ... we love them too much.
