Even though this event charges for some items I was happy to find that the money goes back to the school and they do not use landfills or dump items in the desert (like the FREE events do). Nice choice in companies Hart! Good luck!

Actually I need it for dropping off expired prescription drugs. I also need to find out if they will accept used syringes for diabetics.

Scott, are you saying the event at the Fairgrounds dumps all the items they collect in a landfill?

Pleasantonian -

To regularly drop off expired pharmeceuticals & syringes, go to the Alameda County Stop Waste website, as there is a facility in Livermore where you just drive-up and drop off these items:

Thanks for making the effort to ensure proper and safe disposal of these items.

Also, for a one-time disposal of expired medications & electronic waste, the City of Pleasanton is hosting an event at the Alameda County Fairgrounds on April 30th - May 2nd:

"The City of Pleasanton will host its annual FREE E-Waste collection on April 30, May 1 and May 2, 2010 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, through Gate 12 off Valley Avenue. The collection is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1. The collection continues on Sunday, May 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ...

On Saturday, May 1 only, unused or expired pharmaceutical drugs will be collected at the same location, co-hosted by the Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD). All prescription and over-the-counter drugs will be accepted. For more information about the pharmaceutical drug drop-off, please call (925) 828-0515."
