TEA, WINE & POLITICS
Around Town, posted by Miguel, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Apr 16, 2010 at 3:55 am

As I sat outside a Main Street restaurant sipping my white wine in the early evening, I wondered about the Tea Party Event and how it would effect things in the near future. The street was quiet and serene, maybe not a good thing for restaurants on a Thursday evening, but the peaceful tone made me think that the Rants & Raves of American politics is actually a good thing in the long run. My anger is subsiding as I realize that in a short while we'll be going back to the polls. I also realized that most likely more people will be voting for IDEAS and VALUES, not just the politicians with the splashiest ads. In other words people will exercise their vote in a meaningful way probably for the fist time in American History. The elections in the years to come will no longer be fancy dancing or slight of hand. They will be reflections of the hard fought ideologies existent in our country. I realized this was a good thing. As for me, I'm going to be popping some popcorn and tuning into the most exciting political races America has ever seen. Let the games begin.
