Therapist-Eating Disorders-Teenagers Around Town, posted by Wendy, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Apr 3, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Are there any teenagers out there or parents of teenagers who have used and recommend a therapist for eating disorders? Thanks.

Wendy, the organization I work for has lists of support groups, and one is an eating disorders group in Danville. They may have a listing on Craigslist. Often you can meet people in these groups that have had success with a therapist, or perhaps the facilitator is a therapist that can give referrals (sometimes they won't treat someone clinically when they also have them in a support group).
If you can't find the information on your own and are interested, just respond to this and I can look the support group information up for you tomorrow from work.
I know this violates terms of use, but I can't get the hyperlink to change for some reason.
The group meets monthly in San Ramon, and the facilitator is a woman, last name is Clarkson. I searched under eating disorders support groups contra costa to find it (in case you have to search on your own if the link is removed).

I don't know a therapist but you should start with Marcia Yamashiro 686-9316. She is a nutritionalist in Concord who specializes in eating disorders. She really works well with the kids and she comes highly recommended. I am sure she also has a very good working relationship with therapists in the area and can give some good recommendations.
