Health insurance reform is designed to prevent any child from being denied coverage
Around Town, posted by We are Dems, we are Americans, a resident of the Bridle Creek neighborhood, on Mar 29, 2010 at 9:26 pm

"Health insurance reform is designed to prevent any child from being denied coverage because he or she has a pre-existing condition," Sebelius wrote to Ignagni. "Now is not the time to search for nonexistent loopholes that preserve a broken system."

And you actually BELIEVED a democrat??? Sounds like you are not aware that their "design" actually left out a "minor" detail. Namely they conveniently omitted covering pre-existing conditions in kids.

Face it. Obamacare is hardest on kids with pre-existing conditions and seniors (who democrats would just prefer to waste away with only an aspirin or two for meds. Oh...yes...democrats are so compassionate!)

Sue, please elaborate on your claim.

As denying pre-existing coverage to children is one of the first benefits of the new plan to materialize, how do you figure it was omitted? And with $ specifically targeted to help fill the "donut hole" for Medicare Rx coverage and more benefits to seniors as the new system develops, I wonder where your information is coming from.

I don't know of anyone in health care that didn't support this initiative - whether they work with children or seniors.

WaD; if they wanted to prevent children from being denied coverage, why did it take 2700 pages?

Sharon,

Last night I read a few articles on this topic.

Allegedly, HCR does not immediately mandate that insurers offer coverage to children with pre-existing conditions. It only says any coverage that is offered to children cannot include exclusions for the treatment of such conditions.

I'm going to hold off an opinion on whether I believe this because I'd like to see more sources.

If this is true though, this will be a major blow to what everyone thought this bill was all about.

Respectfully,

Dan
