Obama: "A victory for common sense"

Original post made by anti-stupid brigade on Mar 21, 2010

Yes indeed. The stupid suffered a major defeat today. The stupid has prevailed for too long and it took a major blow today. The stupid got us into two wars that cost 2 trillion. The stupid got tax cuts for the rich worth another 1.8 trillion. The stupid led to a near collapse of our economic system. The stupid doubled our national debt. Today, the stupid was stopped. As obama said: "This is what change looks like."

Of course, the stupid still pervaids this forum. The stupid is all around. The stupid will shake their fists at the heavens, will call for revolution, will scream bloody murder, and then some of the stupid around here will be faced with a cancer diagnosis sometime down the line, and the stupid will say to themselves, thank god for that healthcare reform bill because now my insurance company can't drop my coverage. The stupid will go to have their medicare-prescription coverage meds filled and find the donut hole in their coverage gone and will suddenly thank Mr. Obama for supposedly ripping up the constitution. In other words, despite their best efforts to destroy their own lives and fight against their own self-interests in the name of protecting the interests of major corporations, the stupid has had their lives improved today. And the stupid won't even know it until they're faced with the reality of it all, and then the stupid will go to a teabagger rally and demand that the government keep its hands off their guarantee against being denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions...

Yes, indeed...a victory for common sense, but a victory for the stupid as well...

The real disappointment for me is that after living a nearly full life as a second generation American is that there are so many stupids. I got an idea, maybe the stupids should simply be given an opt out of health care reform..... and they can't re-join in the future if they change their mind. It would be interesting to see how many opt out.

The Pleasanton Weekly has attracted an all time new low of posting to the Town Square Forum and this post is it and you can guarantee they are not from Pleasanton. Interesting how in the last two weeks an onslaught of leftists postings have started. Me thinks we have some moles from outside our district...

Post away! We are ALL having fun laughing at your uneducated banter.

Kelly, you'd like to think you live in a little enclave of like-minded conservative idealogues, but the fact is you are w.r.o.n.g..
The onslaught of leftist posts? You must go back and re-read - you've obviously missed the daily onslaught of right wing propaganda posted on these boards. We just finally got a little fed up of the continuous right wing nonsense and decided to make our voices heard. Upset that now you don't have a monopoly on the PW boards anymore? Don't worry - we'll (by "we," I mean your fellow Pleasantonians, of the liberal persuasion) go back to living in the real world and you can go back to sharpening your teeth here on the forums. Echo chambers are good for you.
Guess what? While you're having fun laughing at our uneducated banter, WE are all having fun celebrating the passage of Health Care Reform!

OK, the vote has passed, the hyperventilating can go away.
Now, how does this legislation lower health care costs for everyone?

Dark Corners,
There is a lot more to the bill than "lowering health care coverage for everyone." It doesn't lower direct healthcare coverage costs for everyone. It aims to put a stop to the current spiral of out of control increases, coupled with service decreases. It is estimated to lower costs up to three percent compared to the status quo projections for 2016, and to raise costs to a small minority of people, some of whom may not currently even have access to insurance. This raise in cost is due to a raise in services offered throught these insurance plans (pay more but receive more coverage rather than pay more and receive less). Additionally, the legislation closes the Medicare prescription drug loophole, give access to those without current access, prevent pre-existing condition exclusions, increase to 26 the age children can be covered under their parents' plans, and eliminate lifetime coverage limits, just to name a few goals.

Kelly - You are correct, you cannot have a discussion with a-sb and the extreme leftists, because they have a different set of core beliefs. All corporations are evil and out to destroy us. They are drinking the Obama koolaid, believing that everyone who gets cancer is going be saved if Barack Obama himself has to come down and administer the chemo. Not a single person that the Democrats gave speeches about over and over last night would have died if we had only passed Hilary's universal healthcare in the 90's

Of course these people will not respond when you talk about the deficits. Oh, correction, they will, but they will make it Bush and Cheney the war criminals fault. If we didn't get in two wars everyone would be able to have healthcare and the world will be a better place, for you, and me, just wait and see!!!

Of course these people will not have an answer when you tell them that we are losing our freedoms. No, because what is so bad about socialized medicine? Those horror stories from Canada and England are just wingnut echo chamber conspiracies.

And ultimately, if you are not drinking the Obama koolaid, you are stupid. stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupidstupid

I hear cold tea bags are good for those puffy eyes after crying. Maybe the tea baggers should try it since they love tea bags so much.

I am not surprised at the intellect it takes to start an anonymous post that does nothing more than to call people with a different viewpoint than yourself names such as stupid...anyone who doesn't agree with your self-righteous viewpoint is deemed stupid...Thanks for the lesson in an example of closed mindedness.

Close mindedness - you mean like voting lock step with your party 100% against the bill?
Seriously, the Republicans need to get it together. When the Republicans in congress aren't crossing their arms and stomping their feet and whining "NO NO NO NO NO!!!!,", they're showing a total lack of decorum by shouting out inappropriately during congressional sessions, setting an example for their followers who in turn spit and shout epithets at congressmen and throw bricks through congressional office windows. That's SOME crew.
Until you guys get your party in order, you're doing us all - right AND left - a disservice.

None of this is settled until it reaches the courts and is reversed for the unconstitutional P.O.S. that it is.
Funny, how some of Obami's lawyer buddies will be the one's to bring down his 'legacy'.
Ironic--the lawyers giveth and the lawyers taketh away. Oh well, I'm sure he'll find other ways to bring down the country......
