INDIA GARDEN
Restaurants, posted by Tom Atoe, a resident of the Downtown neighborhood, on Feb 23, 2010 at 1:57 pm

has anybody eaten at the India Garden on Rose Street. We had dinner out at this place and the chicken vindaloo was like ketchup vindaloo with a hint of indian spices to mask the ketchup.

There was nothing authentic about this Indian food, unless you like ketchup.

Well, the same can be said about chicken65 and chilly chicken ... we ordered medium spicy ... but it still was sweet. The service was good though.

I think the only decent food in Pleasanton is Stacey's on Main Street. Try the antipasta ... you'll love it.

Since you asked, yes, I've eaten at India Garden three times: twice at dinner and once at the lunch buffet, on a Friday. The highlights of the dinner: the Goa fish curry (firm white fish, tasty medium-spicy sauce) and chicken tikka misala. Very attentive service, and we will return, no doubt about that. For lunch, we arrive near 1:30 on a busy Friday afternoon. The lunch buffet was refreshed several times while we were there, and we really loved the gorgeous vegetable platter with curried cauliflower and okra.

I believe that one bad review does not make or break a restaurant, and there are a number of really good reviews out there on Yelp for this restaurant, Web Link, so please give it a chance.

- quite happy with a new place in town!

I have eaten here and I to found the found to be very mild. The dishes had ample meat, but I would go for spicy next time. The service was good, and the people polite.

I found the food quite tasty. I don't like too hot anything! I have eaten hot Indian food and my eye balls just about popped out of my head!

Mild is best, clean, simple and help is polite.

I will return.

Definitely the BEST Indian lunch buffet in the East Bay! The food is fresh, delicious, and inspired. I LOVED it! My friends and I can't wait to go back!

I am a big fan of Indian food and this is the BEST Indian food I've had. It is fresh, great flavor, nice variety. The service is excellent and the prices are decent. The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely. I highly recommend trying this place!!

A REPLY TO MIGUEL:

WE DID TRY STACEYS, WE ENJOYED THE FOOD, THE SERVICE WAS MINIMAL.

WE WAITED FOR OUR COCKTAILS UNTIL THE WAITRESS FINISHED FLIRTING WITH THE BAR PATRONS. IT TOOK A SIGNAL TO THE MANAGER TO GET THE DRINKS TO OUR TABLE.

IT APPEARS THAT IT HAS CHANGED HANDS, THE JURY IS STILL OUT IF THIS IS FOR THE BETTER.
