Deaf-Hope, a local agency that serves deaf women who are survivors of domestic violence, recently placed in the top 100 of the Facebook-Chase Community Giving Campaign in December 2009. All the top 100 charities, which earned the most votes from Facebook users won $25,000. All of the top 100 are also qualified to go to round 2. Facebook users have a second opportunity to vote for up to five of the top 100 charities of their choice. The charity that gets the most votes from Facebook users will receive one million dollars to use for the their "Big Idea"; that is how they would improve services their agency provides at this time.
Please vote for Deaf-Hope. We are the only deaf agency that placed in the top 100 in the USA. Please check out our "Big Idea" on Facebook, which is to build a center using the architectural principles of "Deaf space" and to only use with staff who are fluent in American Sign Language and trained in issues related to Deaf culture as well as domestic and sexual violence issues. We plan to build this center in the Pleasanton/Tri-valley area.
If you have facebook, please vote for us. voting started January 15 and will end on January 22. for more information you can reach me at Deaf-hope.org.
