Didn't this happen at Amador's Homecoming a few years back in a game with San Ramon? One of our lights didn't work and the game was postponed til Saturday afternoon.

Yes de ja vu, it is exactly what happened at Amador's Homecoming 3 years ago.

It was weird going to a daytime football game yesterday, but the Don's survived what looked like at times they were trying to give the game away to San Ramon Valley. Amador had 7 turnovers in the game and trailed 10-0 and 16-7 before running off 28 straight points and winning fairly easily. Amador is now 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the EBAL with Sr. Night next Friday vs Livermore and the big rivalry game vs Foothill at Foothill the following Friday.

Go Don's!

SRV rescheduled the game to Saturday after taking money from everyone for entrance fees. When my son tried to get his money back when the varsity game was cancelled (he and his friends had just arrived about 10 minutes before the game was to start)he was told he couldn't have his money back but wouldn't have to pay on Saturday. He told them he had to work and wouldn't be able to come, but they said he still couldn't get his money back. Right after he paid his money, he heard the woman working the ticket booth tell a girl, "hopefully we will have a game", then she continued taking other students' and parents cash. No refunds??? Great lesson to teach our kids, SRV. It's not the three bucks, it is the fact they took advantage of students, and certainly did not exemplify good business ethics. I plan on contacting the school to let them know my thoughts. I would hope my son happened to request his little refund from an unknowing person!

I believe the challenge is that hard tickets aren't given for EBAL games for/with admission. It is impossible to know who paid and who attended on a pass etc... It is an unfortunate situation. I'm sure that San Ramon Valley H.S. did not do this intentionally, just as Amador Valley didn't a couple of years ago when the identical situation occurred.

My recollection was that AV handled the situation in exactly the same fashion in that no refunds were given and Sat. admission was free. This isn't like Texas HS football where there are season tickets, reserved seats etc.... involved. As Rick Sira was quoted as saying in the weekly. "This is only the 3rd time in 23 years that I can recall something like this happening".

After reading that Amador Valley was ranked seventh, I called Jeb Bing inquiring about its meaning and his source. Mr. Bing was not sure where AV was ranked 7th, and he got that information from his notes from an (at this time) unknown source. He did say that he would research this and write a correction if one was needed. This week, Maxpreps has the Dons ranked 319th national, 42nd in state and 2nd in North Coast section. Rankings are subjective but they do give an indication on how a team is performing. The Dons have been playing very exciting football.

7th place ranking came from SF Chronicle. AV has now moved up to #5 in the Bay Area:

And the Don's "should" be ranked hight than Berkeley and Deer Valley who are undefeated and play in very weak leagues vs the EBAL. The Don's and other EBAL teams have taken DeLaSalle deeper into games this year than ever before. An intense NCS playoffs could leave the spartans vulnerable for the first time in a LONG time! Having said that they are the champs until someone finishes an entire game and beats them!!!! Go Don's!!!!!!!!
