Obama's open letter to the american people State, National, International, posted by Vinnie, a resident of the Downtown neighborhood, on Oct 18, 2009 at 8:21 am
Many of you are wondering why I cannot seem to get anything done but I want to explain why and also illustrate how I cannot be held accountable for anything because I did not create any of this so let me give you a few examples of problems I that have been dumped in my lap. Let's start with the automakers. They started around the turn of the century and I mean 1900 with Billy Durant and Henry Ford. That is a lot of presidents between then and now who have messed them up and you expect me to be able to fix it? Everyone of those presidents have messed them up and it was dumped right in my lap. Social Security and healthcare? Come on Franklin Rosevelt started that as a retirement subsidy not a program and then you have Lyndon Johnson come along and promise the "great society" which further messed me up with all of these welfare programs and debt and creating an attitude that we are all dependent upon the government (this actually is something I like and can use). Harry Truman drops and couple of bombs and really agitates the asians and there go our jobs with TV production and rubber dog shit and thus starts the exit of jobs to the far east. Then just before me you have Bill Clinton who goes out and get impeached and spends so much time defending himself against getting oral sex in the white house that he did not pay attention to this buildup of islamic extremism and now I have that mess to deal with. Oh and do not get me started with the republicans...Lincoln frees the slaves and 150 years later we are still trying to find them jobs with unemployment at about 25% and the prisons swelling. Eisenhower comes along plays a bit of golf (which I am really trying to do) and builds the highway system in the 50's and now guess what? I have to rebuild that also because it is falling apart and now I have no money to do it because the printing presses are running out of ink because we now import ink from India and we are on credit hold, Reagan comes in and creates all of these jobs and a vibrant society and he did while being a great public speaker so now everyone is expecting me to be able to do the same because I speak just like him when I have my prompter but I must put regulation on all of those businesses to slow them down a bit, Bush made the world mad so look at how much time I have had to spend flying the world on airforce one apologizing to the world (lots of jet lag here and time away from work) and lastly can anyone stick a rag in Jimmy Carter's mouth? I mean everytime the old fart opens his mouth I get compared to him because of our common struggles with the economy. So there you have it I should not and cannot be held accountable for anything and I have listed my reasons above so if you need anything done associated with any of the above please see them! Anybody want to shoot some hoops?

Outstanding and very funny but very true. Anytime anyone is critcal of him not being able to get anything done you start hearing well he has only beenin office 10 months or he inherited it or it was Bush's fault. Leaders are accountable and take ownership and do not blame others. Bush to this day never blamed Clinton for the dotcom meltdown nor 911.

He has not blamed anyone for global warming yet! Maybe he could pin that one on whoever was president during the industrial revolution and how about swine flu? Maybe Michelle or Richard Dailey can lead us? Hysterical.
Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, in separate speeches Wednesday, both claimed the U.S. economy was already in recession when they were inaugurated in January 2001, implying the blame for the slowdown rested on President Clinton's shoulders.

Yeah, SNL totally destroyed Obama last night. You know, when they had him tranform into a hulking beast ("ROCK OBAMA") to deal with all the idiots and their idiotic reasons for impeding his plans. I don't know how Obama can sleep at night knowing SNL is making fun of his political opponents and promoting the meme that the GOP is nothing but an obstructionist hump of a regional party whose answer to everything is 'no'. Do you even realize what "jokers" you make yourself out to be?
As for crybaby-in-chief, look no further than the senior George Bush attacking Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow as "sick puppies" for how they treated his poor son these past few years...i know that brought tears to my eyes...of laughter...

Maybe Obama will sick Emmanuel on college football in order to implement the Chicago style to selecting the winner? Afterall Obama does not seem to be able to get anything else done so maybe he can reinvent the system. By looking at him with those bulding muscles of his and his cigarette smoking I bet he was a heck of a player! .....not :)

Why don't you complainers figure out something more constructive to do with your time besides throwing out inaccurate information, attempting to take over Douglas Kendall as worst *parody* writer, obsessing about what Obama is *not* doing. Were you all happy and peaceful during the last 8 years of W? Yeah, he sure did a lot...took Clinton's surplus and made it into a HUGE deficit, started a war over false accusations, ETC. Yes, this is a Democratic biased link:
If that's what you call "getting stuff done", I'll settle for a president who in your mind DOESN'T do all that much! No, I didn't have time to research every point, but for MANY of them I could nod my head any think, "Yep". And lest you say, "another example of supporting Obama by bringing up Bush"...well, the original post refers to past presidents. How do you judge the present without reflecting on and comparing to something?

I voted for President Obama and thus far have been underwhelmed with his performance. I am sick and tired of his excuses. At a time when we need jobs, are fighting a war he has expanded and need direction he is picking fights with people critical of him. Just diminishes the role of the presidency. If he does not want the job or is incapable of doing it then he should just quit!

This is just a venting thread. People who are unhappy with Obama's performance can come here and vent their frustrations in an over the top way. No big deal - probably healthy, really. The claim that Bush didn't blame anyone else was disproven in links provided above. Other than that, the rest is just silliness. I don't think it's anything to fuss about.

I agree with you 100% I would like to see him just keep his mouth shut and get the job done and quit complaining or we will change him form the campaigner in chief to the complainer in chief. When he ran he kept saying yes we can and hope and change but now it appears to be nothing other than words and empty promises. No more of anything except results and you are right no excuses.

Nice try Arnie, Mary, and Vinnie, but lets bring this conversation back to reality and just stick to the facts.
1. Obama is not a US citizen, so he has no legitimate claim to the presidency, much less residency. Yet no one has started impeachment hearings, much less deportation hearings.
2. Obama is a Marxist and a communist. This is a documented fact and you can check it on any independent truthful source. He has been heard referring to freedom and capitalism as "silly" and "delusional".
3. Obama is a terrorist. To this day he will not condemn the attacks on September 11, and was even heard to say "those jerks should have known this was coming". He will not salute the flag or swear on a Holy Bible.
4. Obama is a Muslim. This has been documented in many places. Just look it up.
5. Obama used ACORN, voter fraud, and intimidation to steal the election. Just look on Hannity's site, you can read all about. Not only is he not legally allowed to be president, he was not even elected.
6. Obama hates America and wants to destroy it any way he can. That should be obvious.
No one is disputing you because there are no "facts" to dispute. The only sites that agree with your *opinions* (different from facts) are not reputable news sources but "crazy sites". I can say that "You are an idiot". Can you dispute it? My point isn't really to call you an idiot but to point out that any of us can say what we like...doesn't make it fact.

OK, so he swore upon a Bible during the public inauguration, but because there was no Bible present at the second swearing-in you use that as evidence that he doesn't swear upon Bibles. I'm seeing a major logic flaw here.

To Vinnie: you *may* have some points in there, but did you never take a high school composition course teaching you how to format an essay to catch the reader's attention and make it interesting? I'm sorry, but even though I have a master's degree, your extremely dense layout makes your points textemely unreadable and sabotages your discussion.
To Reality: I read your talking points and understand them to be completely tongue-in-cheek. If that's not what you intended, I regret the error, but honestly, that's how they come across. Excellent!

Oy Vey, I wish Reality's comments were "tongue-in-cheek". I fear they are not.
Stacey, my point exactly. "Reality" states that our president will not swear on a bible, and yet he certainly did at the inauguration. Reality thinks that no one can dispute their "facts". I did just that with my link: he didn't use a bible at a subsequent swearing in because simply there wasn't one.

You've got to be kidding. I get these emails all the time from friends I've know for more than 40 years. He even tried to force our troops to pay their own medical bills when injured in Iraq. What kind of president would mock our soldiers and sailors when the country is at war?
