Nobel Peace Prize for Obama

Original post made by Jesse D., Golden Eagle, on Oct 9, 2009

Is Barack Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize a joke or simply the Nobel Prize Committee showing their Socialist politics? Those nominated had to have their names submitted by February. He had only been in office at most one month, maybe less. He may have been nominated as soon as he was elected President - at which point his only accomplishment was finding the White House latrine.

The phrase Nobel Peace Prize has become an oxymoron. Just look at the qualifications of some of the recipients:

AL GORE – Most noted for his global warming buffoonery. No facts, just hucksterism, and Obama is going to help him become a billionaire through cap and trade at the expense of the American public.

MOHAMED EL BARADEI– Clown that is supposed to be sniffing out nukes for the U. N. Hasn't found any.

JIMMY CARTER – Considered to be worst U. S. President of the 20th century. First bungler of U. S. relations with Iran (guess who's gunning for second?). Hard-core Socialist. Delivered America into economic malaise. Perpetual apologizer for U. S. actions. Promoter of racial strife in post-Presidency.

KOFI ANNAN – Former head of U. N. - his main accomplishment was taking hundred of millions, if not billions, in bribes and theft from the U. N. treasury.

YASSER ARAFAT– International terrorist for decades, bent on destruction of Israel.

MIKHAIL GORBACHEV– Soviet Communist dictator

LE DUC THO– Founder of the Vietnam Communist Party and leader of the Communist insurgency in South Vietnam

BARACK OBAMA – Con artist extraordinaire. No notable accomplishments as politician before being elected President. Before he went into politics he was a "community organizer" for ACORN, now gaining attention for their multitude of criminal activities. Communist that fooled the American public into thinking he was centrist. 1/2 Caucasian, 3/8 Arab, 1/8 Negro ethnicity – fooled the American public into thinking he was first Negro elected President. First non-citizen elected U. S. President, a violation of the Constitution. De facto head of the Socialist-Muslim Alliance bent on bringing down the Western Democracies.

Here's the full list of prize winners: Web Link

LE DUC THO– Founder of the Vietnam Communist Party and leader of the Communist insurgency in South Vietnam

Looks like this guy declined the prize and he was only a joint recipient. The other half was Kissinger. These two won it for negotiating the Vietnam peace accord in 1973. It looks like many others have jointly received the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating peace accords, like Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin.

Way to cherry-pick your list. It really distracts from your main argument, which is questioning Obama as a recipient.

Stacey,

My point wasn't to publish the list of Nobel Peace Prize winners, or to exclude joint winners. My point was that an organization that would give the Peace Prize to those I listed be they despots, criminals or buffoons has no credibility. The Peace Prize is Socialist media event. Ronald Reagan (ended the Cold War) and Harry Truman (ended WWII) did more to bring about world peace than any of the actual recipients, but they didn't get the Prize. They were of the wrong politics. Nobody ever brought about peace by being a pacifist. Peace has always been won by having a bigger stick, or more determination, than the despots. The Socialist-Muslim Alliance wants to take away our big stick and destroy our determination. We now have one of them as our President, and they want to coronate him.

Wingnuts,
I realize that your world must be crumbling around you as you shake your fists at the libruls of the world granting each other awards that you consider both dubious and irrelevant. Why couldn't the IOC have the last word on Obama's ego?

If it's the case that the Nobel Prize is a joke, then why do you care so much? If it's a sham award and only criminals and dictators get awarded it for PC reasons, why are you so upset? Why do you care that Reagan and Nixon never got an award you think is a sham? Why do you bother ranting?

Jesse, Your birther rant is both hilarious and heart warming. It's nice that you're able to divide up Obama's ethnicity like a pie...1/8th for you, 3/8ths for me...but Obama never claimed to be the first NEGRO president. Last time I checked, most African-Americans have shunned the term "Negro" for years, so time to update your terminology. He did claim to be the first AFRICAN-AMERICAN president, which having ancestry from Africa he is (not to mention the fact that you think he was actually BORN there...*sigh*), but it's nice that you've brought back this myth of a Communist-Muslim alliance he's a part of. That's cute. I was missing the stuff about him being a secret Muslim...i guess the birther meme is really dying out...It's so confusing with all this talk of 47 year old birth announcements and fake kenyan birth certificates.... First he's a secret Muslim, then he's a secret Arab, then he's a secret communist, then he wasn't even born in America and had fake birth announcements published 47 years ago to cover his tracks, and now he's back to being a secret Muslim. Oh yeah, and he's a fascist too. He's got that hitler mustache, after all...

As for your rant about Al Gore: "Obama is going to help him become a billionaire". Hilarious. I don't know if you realize this, but Al Gore was an early investor in Google (before it went public) and has been on their board of directors for some time. I'm sure you've heard of google. Um...THAT helped Al Gore become a billionaire, not cap and trade. But sure, he wants to destroy the country too and make himself super-rich at the same time...go with it...

As for your rant about how he was only president for 12 days and how did he deserve being awarded the prize. Check the Nobel committees own official website for a detailed explanation of the nomination/award process.

Web Link

In detail, note this passage: "The Committee has as a rule reached its conclusion by mid-September, but has been known not to arrive at a decision until at its very last meeting before the announcement of the Prize at the beginning of October."

So despite the fact that he was nominated way back on February 1, they were able to take into account almost 9 full months of activity to make their decision, during which time the tone as far as international relations has changed considerably. Granted, that's not a lot of time, but to claim it was only 12 days is very misleading.

I know all these FACTS might get in the way of your beliefs, but keep up with the birther meme and the secret muslim garbage...whatever keeps you warm at night...

Lemme guess, you're one of those folks that want the government to keep its hands off your medicare...

RE: Jessie D: "Nobody ever brought about peace by being a pacifist."
Lemme guess, you consider yourself a wholesome christian man and would never miss sunday service. Jesus loves you.

RE: Rita: "His first and only victory and he has no idea how it happened and this comes on the day that Iran threatens the US and Israel"
Let's see, first he becomes the first african-american to win its party's nomination for president, then he wins the election getting more votes than any previous president and wins by nearly 10 million votes, passes an economic stimulus bill within 6 weeks, sees the stock market go up 30% this year and will see the quarterly GDP increase for the first time in 2 years, passes a bill to guarantee equal pay for women, gets his supreme court nominee confirmed with relative ease, is on the verge of passing meaningful healthcare reform with the bill advancing out of 5 committees and facing a floor vote next week, and this is his *FIRST AND ONLY* victory. Brilliant commentary. And ewwww...that scary boogeyman in Iran said something mean to rain on his parade...or maybe it was the head of the GOP that said it...hard to tell who hates america more these days...

Poster Boy,
Are you surprised as I am to learn from our good friend Jesse D. that the Communists and Muslims are friends now?

I guess the communists decided to get rid of the whole "religion is the opiate of the masses" thing that Marx was so fond of which formed one of the major prerequisites of the communist party. But, please don't let facts get in the way of your conspiracies Jesse D.

Jesse D. You might want to consider not getting your "facts" from people who are suffering from paranoid delusions, or huffing spray paint behind dumpsters.

Yes, we get it. Pleasanton does not like Obama. Everyone who has ever step foot in this town gets it. I can't talk to another human being in this city for more than 15 seconds before they start going red in the face about Obama for no apparent reason. Talk about the weather and Obama comes up, talk about food and Obama comes up, talk about anything... and Obama comes up! How did I know that the closed minded truth bending, fact filtering, extremists would have a field day with this story. At least Rush and Glen have some good fodder for their vitriolic fueled fires on this fine warm day.

As for the prize being a scam/joke/socialist/whatever crap you want to spew in defining what things are...
The Dalai Lama was awarded the prize back in 1989. Would you call him that him a dictator, criminal, communist, murderer, etc...? He is just one example of the many people who have been awarded this prize who I don't think even you guys could frame as an evil man, but please try your best. This is my challenge to you on this day.

Rita,
You are about the 10th person who's tried to make the claim that I am the same person as Stay Cool. We are in fact two different individuals, both relatively sane and able to express ourselves with a certain level of rationality. I can see why that would make you jump to the conclusion that we are one and the same, because what else can wingnuts do but jump to wrong conclusions based on faulty premises all designed to confirm a feeling you may have. Or as your hero W would've said..."follow your gut"

As for me not having a right to speak, I would never say that to anyone for any reason. I'll say to you what I say to anyone who says someone doesn't have the right to say something...I may not agree with you what you're saying, but I am willing to give my life to protect your right to say it...I will argue with you, I will criticize you, I might even resort to name calling from time to time (though I know I shouldn't and I'm trying to stop), but I will back up my arguments with facts, I will use those facts to defend the conclusions I reach, and if I disagree with you, I will use facts to counter your claims.

And furthermore, if I were in fact posting under multiple names on this forum, I would be in violation of the rules and my IP would be tagged and I would be blocked.

That being said, Stay Cool writes great posts, fights the good fight, defends her claims with facts as well, and brings a breath of sanity into this crazy forum. I'm flattered you'd lump us together...

I was thinking to myself that I've seen "Stay Cool" and "poster boy" post on the same thread in the past. If they were in fact the same person, one or both of their posts would be deleted for breaking the rule that you may not post under multiple aliases on the same thread.

SC & PB, I wouldn't worry about it - this is the usual tactic of "I don't want to deal with your *facts* so I need to draw the attention from the issue and make it personal". It's easier than coming up with a cogent response to cogent posts.

The birth records issue was cleared up on another thread a few weeks ago. If you care to research it, I provided multiple links. Or you can keep ignoring the evidence and bringing it up as though it is still an issue, and then you can call us loons, and we will say "Uh-huh," and nod sympathetically, because obviously, you just can't help yourself.
Now, let's return to the topic of Nobel Prize recipient and President of the United States, Barack Obama...

No Loons,
So you're of the "it's all obama's fault for not answering the accusations" branch of the birther movement. As for Obama supposedly renouncing his citizenship, I assume you're referring to the lie that he received student aid at Occidental College as a foreign exchange student from Indonesia (the implication being that he renounced his US citizenship to receive such aid). This is a proven hoax. The article, supposedly written by AP, quoting a Daily Mail article was fabricated. Obama did not attend college under the name Soetoro (his ex-step father's name), nor has he ever renounced his citizenship. Furthermore, if his mother at some time did renounce hers and his citizenship when he was a minor, this still does not constitute him giving up his citizenship or his right to be president, according to the law. "Parents cannot renounce citizenship on behalf of their minor children."

Check this link for more FACTS on the matter:

Web Link

As for the Osama/Obama typo...that's really cute. Never heard that one before. Did you notice that his middle name is the same as Saddam's last name too? Isn't that hilarious! HAHAHAHAHA. Who's this guy think he's kidding??? How does a guy with a terrorist's first name and a dictator's last name get awarded the Nobel Peace prize?!?!?

Re: "provide the information proving that he...never renounced his U.S. ciizenship."
So you want Obama to provide evidence that he DIDN'T do something you claim he did. Well, if that's the case, then I want to know why Glenn Beck has never come forward and refuted the claim that he raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. It's all in this website. (glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com)

Web Link

This story would go away if Beck would just come forward and provide evidence that in fact he didn't rape and murder a young girl in 1990, but he refuses to so this story won't go away. It's all his fault. In fact, Glenn Beck appealed to an international body governing internet addresses trying to have this site shutdown. Why is Glenn Beck appealing to socialist-inspired international tribunals to squash evidence of his malfeasance? Why is he trying to hide the truth?!?!? When Beck answers these questions and proves his innocence, then I'll help you get Obama's college transcripts...

Yeah...we're the loons.

As for you, why don't you release your college records? Oh yeah, you probably have none...

Move Out Now,

Don't you know anything about the secret muslim-socialist-communist plot to take over America? We're infiltrating all the Country First, Love-it-or-leave-it bastions across the country and slowly converting it with our gay marriages, non-fat lattes, and interracial dating. You may want us to move back to Maryland (?!?!) but it's too late. We're home owners now, and we're reproducing at an alarming rate. Pretty soon we're gonna force healthcare on you and then you'll be sorry! Don't worry, you'll always have Baghdad.

As for your love of that great maverick cowboy George Bush. Ever ask yourself why the first thing he did after leaving the white house was sell his ranch in crawford and move to the suburbs? The guy was the ultimate fake. An ivy league rich boy with a texas twang. Maybe, just maybe it was all a show and you got played? You love a man who ditched his duty in Vietnam, used family connections to get in to both Harvard and Yale (but he's no ivy leaguer), and basically made a wreck of everything he ever touched, including multiple failed businesses, a baseball team, the state of texas and finally our country. But hey, he sure did put those europeens in their place, YEEHAW!!! Now we have trillion dollar deficits, 2 wars, a banking system that collapsed, china owning our debt, and a complete mess of a country...but he sure stood up to those libruls in yerup.

Don't let the door to the real world hit you on the way out...

Ghandi was nominated several times and never got the prize. While I think the right is extreme in the way they are looking at Obama's peace prize award, I do think that Obama should not have received it, it was a political move of some sort.

The nominations were due Feb 1! How can anyone accomplish anything, even a good speech with just 11 days in office? Too bad the committee can do whatever, but now the peace prize has no meaning, and awarding the prize to Obama is a slap on the face to people like Mother Theresa, who truly EARNED it.

Obama admitted that he thought he didn't deserve the award.

On top of that the economy has turned around a lot faster than the pundits said it would a year ago. The stock market is up about 30%. That is a lot of wealth returned to our 401k and IRA accounts. Companies are beginning to hire again. Google is going on a hiring binge.

I don't understand why this is about taking sides on the political spectrum. Any person who has arguably only been in a position to effect peace for such a short part of his life/career would have had to leap tall buildings in a single bound to have deserved this award (brokered peace with Iran, North Korea?). That isn't the case for this president at this time. He should have followed the words "I don't deserve this" with "and I decline to accept the honor."

There were more nominees than ever before for the Nobel Peace Prize. Surely someone else was more deserving. I would say this if it had been John McCain or Hillary Clinton or anyone whose career has yet to accomplish much on the world stage. Hope is a good thing certainly, but actions speak louder. As someone else pointed out, there's no there there. At least not yet.

If you are going to criticize someone, get your facts straight. Go look up dynamite on the internet. You are one of the WORST posters in here because you blatatly criticize people in a very biased way. Dynamite is not merely used to kill people. Go look up some of its other uses. To call Afred Nobel an "Arms dealer" is ridiculous. Take your biased attitude out of here.

Anonymous,
Nice job criticizing someone for not getting her facts straight when she in fact was getting her facts straight. Nobel was an arms dealer in the latter part of his life. He bought a steel mill company and redirected its manufacturing capacity to produce cannons. "He owned Bofors, a major armaments manufacturer, which he had redirected from its previous role as an iron and steel mill." - wikipedia.

I think stacey's comment had less to do with his invention of dynamite than his work as an arms manufacturer. As for her biased attitude, deal with it, she has the right to express her opinion. You should be ashamed of yourself for wanting to stifle that.

She is way smarter that I... or is it me???
From the Rachel Maddow Show:
"In 1984, the Nobel committee gave the Peace Prize to Archbishop Desmond Tutu for his, as yet, unsuccessful efforts to topple apartheid in South America. Apartheid didn't fall for another 10 years after that award.

I suppose they could have waited until 1994 to see how the fight over apartheid turned doubt and then awarded the prize based on that achievement then. But that's not actually the way the Nobel Peace Prize always works.

In 1935, the Nobel committee gave the Peace Prize to a journalist named Carl von Ossietzky, because he symbolized domestic opposition to the rise of Adolf Hitler in Germany. I suppose they could have waited to see whether or not domestic opposition to Hitler in Germany toppled him, whether it worked out for them, and then they could have awarded the prize based on that achievement. But, A, that never happened, and B, that's the way the Nobel Peace Prize always works.

President Jimmy Carter received the Nobel Peace Prize for his dogged pursuit of Mideast peace. I suppose they could have waited for Mideast peace to break out and then awarded the prize based on that achievement, but that's not the way the Nobel Peace Prize always works.

Aung San Suu Kyi won the Nobel Peace Prize without toppling the Burmese military junta, which is still in control.

Shirin Ebadi won the Nobel Peace Prize without ending tyranny in Iran. President Woodrow Wilson won the Nobel Peace Prize for creating the League of Nations and his work on the Treaty of Versailles in the end of the World War I, though neither of those things lived up to their promise of preventing future wars.

The Nobel Peace Prize not always but often awards effort. It

recognizes people trying in big ways to get the world on a more peaceful

path.
