Anyone else hear about 8th graders caught with ECSTASY at HPMS today???

Original post made by Concerned Parent, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Sep 24, 2009

My daughter just came home & told me about a group of 8th grade kids (some I've known since Kindergarden) that were caught with ecstasy at HPMS at lunch today.

Scary & sad! Ecstasy can have fatal consequences the very 1st time!

Time for another drug talk!

Web Link Information about Ecstacy. Hopefully, the kids that were busted will not use again. If they need help, seek it immediately and symptoms of depression & anxiety can continue.

Hey kids, find another way to be cool and fit in.

Thanks Cholo! I just used that website to show my daughter what that & other drugs can do to you.

Has this information been confirmed? It is not a good idea to be spreading information unless it is accurate.

I clearly state my source above as my daughter. I didn't say it was confirmed. That is why I started this thread. I am not spreading information I am trying to GET information...thus the question..."Anyone else hear about 8th graders caught with ECSTASY at HPMS today???"

Direct phone calls to other parents you know might be a better way to attempt to confirm this. I doubt anyone would risk definatively confirming this in an on line forum. Even if someone did there is no way to authenticate it.

Ummmmmmmm,

What's your point? Whether this one incident is confirmed or not is not really the point or a big deal. I think the point is that there are certainly drugs in our schools and more kids are becoming aware of it.

If you point is that since the incident has not been confirmed that there are no drugs in our middle schools, then I think you should pull your head out from where ever it is located.

My point is. It does no good to spread rumors here (intentional or unintentionally), when virtually everyone here posts under anonymous names. Ex: I could say I'm a parent and was told by an administrator that extasy dealing is rampant in all Pleasanton schools. I understand your desire to get facts after your kids tell you something of this magnitude. My personal experience tells me rumors tend to get exagerated. Do I believe drugs including extasy exist in Pleasanton schools? ABSOLUTELY they do. My only surprise is that anyone is surprised.

Stacey is a registered user.

What Ummmmmmm says is true to some extent. Readers should take what they read here with a grain of salt. At the same time, there have been serious posts here by sincere posters. The PW has written whole articles based upon further exploration of what was posted here on this forum by anonymous posters. Besides, lack of anonymity (like in face-to-face conversation) doesn't make what is said any less a rumor. One stills needs to verify information on their own.

Call or go to the school and ask...

Identify yourself as a concerned parent of a HPMS student. Why wouldn't they respond with a simple "yes" or "no". Seems to me you have a right/responsibility to know what's happening at your children's school...

If you get stonewalled - Call Casey's office and raise hell...

I believe is situations like this happen that the school should let other parents know about it and not hide it...I believe being open to the community will help those kids in trouble more than just sweeping it under the rug.

Come on PUSD every parent has a right to know so we can protect and educate our own children.

"It's not a very common occurrence (in Pleasanton), especially at a middle school," Tryphonas added.
