I agree with reinforcing the positive values any religion teaches, I also agree that its important to use positive role models as examples. I disagree with the decision to turn off the TV or ignore the acts of people acting in the name of a religion. I think its important for kids to understand why people might have a negative image of a certain group of people (right or wrong), and by discussing it with the kids parents can help coach them in how to deal with negative comments as a result. Furthermore, I think its important for children to understand why the acts of those acting in the name of a religion are actually counter to what that religion really is about.

Moina Noor's article is a window to her world and experience. I appreciate having read it.

Pleas. Parent, your last sentence is the most important. Understanding that concept says it all. For all our religions throughout the centuries, it is that understanding that matters the most.
