Primary Care Doctor says he saves the system big bucks but gets only small payments :

Original post made by Doc, Danville, on Aug 25, 2009

This is a GOOD article about Primary care doctors and why they are fed up. Also note an element of “RATIONING” of health care, for those that are worried about “potential rationing” with the Health Reform Bill.

It is good to hear from a doctor why we have a shortage of primary care physicians. I didn't know they fight to be paid a reasonable amount of money from the insurance companies, or why. Specialists make more money than primary care doctors, that I do know.

Perhaps this is why we have so many foreign trained younger doctors right now in California? Some speak good English, and others don't. But they are here to practice medicine and make money. I want a doctor that I can communicate with easily, that I can get to know and trust. We pay for our insurance coverage, how much they contract for with insurance carriers is out of our control. Primary care doctors are vital!
