SFGate: Walkway welds spark Dublin delays

"The opening of the $80 million West Dublin BART Station has been put on

hold for up to a year after pair of prefab pedestrian walkways designed to be suspended over Interstate 580 were found to be defective."

For real? So after 2 years of looking at the walkways rust in the fields now they can't even be used? And how does it take up to a year to replace them? BART is so efficient!
