Yellow bumpy corner inclines Around Town, posted by Bob, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Aug 5, 2009 at 10:59 pm
Someone must have a good answer for this....
All over the city corners are being constructed with the yellow bumpy inclines for wheelchair access. The corners already had the sloped entrances, what is the benefit of the yellow bumpy slopes?

unclehomerr,
You never fail to write something that makes me chuckle. Thanks. (and no, I'm not being sarcastic.)

The yellow bumpy slopes at corner crossings assist those half wits (Unclehomerr..). He pushes a button to activate the bubble wrap effect and entertains himself for hours prior to crossing the street.

Actually, these "truncated domes" are a result of the "Americans With Disabilities Act" signed by George H.W. - nothing to do with Obama.
Here is an article about them from April. Don't freak out - the website has the word "democrat" in it, but it is simply a fact based article:
I went looking because I was curious about them too. Almost seems ironic - they are there to help the blind and yet they may complicate things for the elderly and/or wheel chair bound!

These "bumps" are federally mandated. This is nothing to do with city Council. From a good source, it was not required to put down the load yellow bumps, just a contrasting color. Livermore choice was a contrasting darker gray.

I wondered who great idea these were, the federal government who wants to take over our entire Health Care! I assist my elderly mother who uses a walker with wheels on the front and these bumps make it very difficult for her. She has to navigate around these areas or essentially carry her walker over them making it unsafe for her. She is supposed to use the walker to support herself and prevent falling, not carry it over something that can make her trip!

Funny that Obama had nothing to do with it but you found a chance to take a swipe at him. Well done. It's to help sight impared people that aren't as perfect as the rest of you. I know most don't need it so why do it right? Must be Obama scamming the hard working able bodied people out there and giving tax money to those street workers that are soooo lazy.
