Cheers to Herman Lewis for noting that there was no mention of women in the military, nurses etc at the July 4, 2009 celebration Hopefully this will be corrected bfore the next event that celebrates our Armed Forces !!!!! Way to go Herman

The way some societies justify sexism or racism is by saying that the parties that were not recognized were there "in spirit".

If women are not a part of the planning events, you can count on being left out.

Even if women are part of the planning they sometimes leave women out. I helped teach a class on artists with other women, and the artists we were teaching the kids were 90% men. This was a course developed by a woman, and taught be women volunteers. When I suggested we add more women artists to the lesson, I was told by one of the women that there "just weren't that many." This woman is obviously a product of American public schools, which utilize notoriously sexist textbooks.
