This site has become nothing but a forum for personal attacks that would never make it into the actual "letters to the editor" in the real newspaper, and cheapen the pleasanton weekly and pleasanton as a community. DO YOU THINK IT'S TIME THE PW DELETES THIS BLOG SITE? I DO!

Welcome to the Internet Sandy!

Sandy,

Thank You, I agree, I just started reading this site and I'm disheartened by the cruel things people are saying to one another. I'm a fan of the weekly when it arrives in my mailbox each Friday, however I'm choosing to stay away from the website from now on. The negativity makes me too sad.

Technology is changing so quickly these days and new mediums are opening up many new doors. Blogging is merely one of them. Every major news site, and most small ones, allow comments on stories and blogging for their readers to discuss current topics and is aimed at allowing the reader become more directly involved with the discussion. Without blogs the world would be much different, although at times they may be offensive or seem to be filled with drama, that is what people enjoy discussing. Ever read a book or watched a movie without any conflict...I didn't think so.

This is the way of the 21st century. I've found it fruitful in lieu of the negativity. I've learned much about the debate around Oak Grove and now understand it all better. It allows ppl to air their opinions and feelings over simplistic issues and ideas as well as hotbed items. There is a bit to be gained in that. Takes an understanding of social psychology to understand that.

We all just need to remember to bring our "filters" when we read.

No. I think they should expand and improve it.

As much as we'd like to deny it, Pleasanton is part of the world. The world is not a nice place or haven't you noticed? Are the words posted on this forum (not a blog, btw) worse than the occupation and destruction of Iraq? Worse than people starving and neglected in our own country? Worse than the torture committed by our government in our names?

There is some perspective to be had here. I've read nothing on any thread here that measures up to those atrocities or for that matter, any unkind words on any of the other boards that I frequent. It's called discourse and sometimes it isn't pretty. It's going to get way worse before it gets better so you'd better get use to it.

I'm not saying there's no good in the world, but anyone who doesn't see what's going on here and abroad isn't paying attention or just doesn't care.

FYI -- This is a message board, not a BLOG.
