BFD...you are being extremely naive if you think North Korea released these two journalists because of BJ Clinton's personality. The only language NK knows is the sound of $$$. Clinton paid their ransom fee and then probably traded some US secrets as well, just as traded US secrets with China.

That is the most whacked-out post I have ever read.
1. BJ Clinton? The man goes to N. Korea and two journalists are freed and that's all you can say?
2. Nice speculation on your part. Clinton paid money and traded US secrets? You really ought to be careful before throwing out accusations like that.
Bill Clinton is a fantastic statesman, and I am proud that he represented our country in North Korea, and grateful for the results he achieved.

Concerned American,

So instead of celebrating the fact that two American journalist have been freed from North Korea, you make some tasteless and dated jokes about Bill Clinton? Hey, 1998 just called, it thinks your jokes are pretty funny. Nice to see you conservatives are keeping it classy!

What did we have to offer up?

Way to pimp out Bill Clinton. Now NK has a photo to show off at the next communism get together about how he bent the US over a barrel.

Wonder if Barrack will be attending the get together?

Why are people against Clinton going to NK and getting these girls freed? Imagine if your own children were in their shows. More than likely, you'd be hoping that anything could be done to bring them home. We should be celebrating their release. For those that were against Clinton's visit, do you think the US should have left them longer until they got what they wanted? Or should we, as a country, just forgot about who these people are?

The Spelling Police are on duty tonight.

Sen. Larry Craig is the one that took care of business, not Clinton. President Clinton went to cut a deal and now the 2 journalists are free.

I'm so happy that the women were released. I'm just skeptical as to what they were doing there. Did they really break the 'law' and if they did, who sent them there, Al Gore??

I am also a little skeptical about what we just gave over to a lunatic who will take this moment and truly capitalize on it.

We need more leverage with these nut jobs, not less and I fear that these women put us in a compromised position in order to secure their freedom. Now I want to know why they were there, but it is doubtful we'll ever know the truth. That would really make Il look like a humanitarian.

I see both sides of it.

I am thrilled for the journalists to be freed. However, in all seriousness guys, it is NOT a WARM and FUZZY feeling that BJ Clinton agreed to NK's demands...and to have long talks with their nuclear czar.

Read the following...

Web Link

At the end of the article, it mentions that since Iran now has three US hostages, perhaps Obama himself will go there to "negotiate" with their nuclear czar.

But anyone who thinks North Korea let them go out of the goodness of their hearts and the realization they made a mistake is very, very ignorant. I think we celebrate their release for their families sake, but worry about exactly what we agreed to. Be realistic people.

Oh, and the Lewinsky comment made me laugh as well.

How did we agree to anything when Clinton's visit was not in official diplomatic capacity?

What a farce! US gets to apologize to NK for something stupid! Wow! How gullible are the Americans? Watch this... We will be kissing up to the Iran now because of the 3 'missing' Americans! Oh yes, we are good samaritans! We get our butt kicked for something the gov't doesn't even do... Now under O administration, we will kissing a lot of butts... Where is the American Pride! It's between our legs!

To PToWN94566: If they were my children, they wouldn't be over there, jeopardizing US as a country! Where is Al Gore on this? Hiding? They did work for his group! How Stupid! Now we have another situation in IRAN! So we should belly up again! Better yet, US will be offerring up Isreal a a bargaining chip (under the new O administration!) WHERE IS UN on this? This is a WORLD problem not America's!

To Cost: Obama will inviting them for a beer get together and photo ops. Great for the ratings!

Exactly: At What Cost?

Stacey,

Clinton didn't land, scoop up the journalists, and fly away like Superman. If he had, I would be with you that nothing of diplomacy was involved. However, Bill spent 3 hours with Il prior to securing the journalists. Were they trading baseball cards during all that time? Before the photo-op, they were behind closed doors for the majority of the three hours. I'm sure Il just wanted to know details about Chelsea's pending nuptuals...

Do you just prefer to cover your eyes and ears while singing la-la-la to ignore the obvious? Please don't be so naive, it isn't as flattering of someone usually so intelligent in her posts.

Diplomacy? If it is, O and Slick Willy should step up and say it "it is diplomacy'. Yet, we hide behind the cloak and make it sound like it's impromptu. I know it's all pre-arranged. Hillary apologized for the acts that the 2 journalist did. Now, Bill goes over there as the high-level delegate from the U.S. I wasn't born yesterday.

Why should United States pay for this as a country? It could be my kids but at what cost? If for every cause, someone did this. Would you stand for it? Iran is next... we now have 3 'hikers' over there... what next? Give away Isreal? Isn't that O's plan?

I see my statement was not understood. "Official diplomatic capacity" means a person who is authorized to speak and negotiate on behalf of the US. I don't mean to suggest that there was no negotiation, only that since his trip was characterized as a "private trip", there is no way any of what Clinton may have said is legally binding. The suggestion that the US agreed to anything therefore has no basis.

Stacey,

It's just too far out to even believe that it was just another stop on Uncle Bill's good will tour of rogue nations. This morning the national media journalists who are internationally based said, food, fuel, etc, etc, would be coming NK's way after this hostage situation.

Yay. Way to embolden the gangsters of the world.

I like what another poster asked...exactly what were these women, who albeit endured a horrible sentence for 5 months, doing there? They work for Current and Big Al is their boss. Surely we aren't expected to believe they were picnicing along the border and just got grabbed while picking daisies do they? I'd also like an interview of Mr. Gore, please.

And for that matter, they worked for his stinkin' paper...HE should've been sent to lick Il's boots and pick up his employees.

I'm glad they are home - It sucks what we gave up - but I'm glad they're home all the same.
