I have just about it with my own conservative Republican base!

I have just about it with my own conservative Republican base, as have quite a few of our closest friends as of late.

What we once had, we have no longer! The base has swung SO far to the Right that it's an embarrassement to humanity!

That's it, from now on call me a Moderate, or a conservative Democrat for that matter!

In my opinion, not all the conservative Republican base has swung to the radical right. What you are hearing is the vocal minority(squeeky wheel gets the attention). You might be surprised at the number of conservatives, whether republican or democrat, that go about their everyday business as traditional conservatives...

I agree the far right, and the far left, have become an embarrassment, with no end in sight...

So Spencer...exactly what is your issue with your conservative base? It may be people like you who have let the left walk all over you in their more outspoken ways. Time to start speaking your mind and be a proud unapologetic conservative! Stand your ground and challenge them intellectually! Their ideology is bankrupt and their is ample evidence everywhere you look.

Agreed, Mark. Unfortunately, Spencer was not specific in stating his issues, so it's hard to tell if he's just trolling.

Regardless, the folks to the left of center are counting on people calling themselves conservative to fold and abandon their principles.
If you even consider yourself a moderate, you never understood conservative principles to begin with.
Moderates have compromised their beliefs to the point that they meaningless and stand for nothing.

Jon:

Moderate means not being extreme. The GOP right now, with Palin leading the pack, opposes abortion even in the cases of rape or incest! Now that is extreme. It is hard to believe any woman would embrace such principles. Of guys, I can see why since they are not the ones affected, but women... wow!

Spencer - what is too "right" for you, really, explain yourself; where do you "cross" the line.

Resident - so what you are saying is that liberals are bigots, if a child is from rape, then that is worth killing? Or if your daughter comes home and someone you do not approve of, gets your daughter pregnant, then abort the kid? By the way, if a guy kicks a pregnant woman in the gut, because he does not want the kid; even though the woman does, and she is 12 weeks pregnant; did he committ murder or elect HIS choice?

Drexl:

A woman or girl who was raped or was victim of incest should have the right to terminate a pregnancy she did not ask for. As a guy, I am sure you cannot possibly understand this since you cannot get pregnant, with or without consent. No wonder the GOP is losing power. And if a guy kicks someone, pregnant or not... that is assault and against the law, period.
