Readers Choice Numbers
Around Town, posted by Tim, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Jul 17, 2009 at 11:01 pm

Did I read the numbers right in todays paper? It said it had over 39,000 confirmed votes from readers. Yet it said that the Blue Agave won the contest for the "Best Place to have a first date" with 59 votes. Close behind were 58 for Staceys and 57 for Barones. 39,000 people voted and 59 votes were enough to win this category? Blue Agave won the best outdoor restaurant with 267 votes.

What a waste of time. 39,000 people may have voted, but they apparently didn't vote for anything!

Looks like people vote for a few catagories, not all.

Readers Choice is a Great Advertising tool for the Weekly!

Businesses advertise to get votes, they advertise to say Thanks for voting.

Not just a great way for the weekly to make money but mostly a joke in many categories. Best "dog store"???? We have exactly one downtown. Best NON-chain coffee shop and the readers name the only 3 that ARE chains????

I can't see how Blue Agave would be voted best anything.. outside of a shot of tequila. Their food is not that good & it's over priced.

Some of my thoughts are along the lines of others- chain stores!!?? Personally chain stores shouldn't be allowed on this kind of list. People complain about not having enough 'mom-n-pop' stores downtown but then go and vote for places like In-Out Burger and High Tech Burrito.

O well, I'll stick with yelp.com for reviews.

I'm betting it's another typo. [#39000 and counting]

Over 390 readers voted sounds better to me!
