Rick's Pick is a great addition to downtown

Original post made by Infrequent shopper on Jul 13, 2009

This past Saturday while walking down to the Farmers' Market, we stopped in the new shop Rick's Picks.

From the merchandise at the front of the store, we figured it was just another do-dad place for home furnishings. But along the narrow aisles and in the back corner are some great deals for people of all ages.

We have been looking at several online and in-town retailers for a laptop protector cover. Rick's Picks not only had a selection that was 25-30% lower than those other retailers, but also a better selection of patterns rather than basic black.

Rick's Picks might want to create a window display that shows the variety of items to draw in more window shoppers, especially those like me who were not familiar with the other store's location and inventory.

Thanks to the great selection, great prices, and great customer servivce, we'll be back!!

Good luck with your Pleasanton location!!

I agree -- this is a great store. I wandered in with nothing in mind and found half a dozen things that were just perfect. At these prices it makes downtown shopping affordable. Maybe some of the other "houseware" and "kitchen" stores might make note, unreasonably high prices are why many of us are forced to shop online and at big box stores. Three times markup, or more, over wholesale just does not cut it in this economy.

I'm happy that Rick's Picks is here in Pleasanton. I have been into the Danville one and found many items over the past few years. Now I don't have to go to Danville! I hope they stock more garden items and more purses and small items to put into purses..

And if they have lots of kitchen items like Domus did, they will do well. Anyone else miss Domus?

I miss Domus also, but not the owner who purchased it and ran it into the ground. The former owner (I think he still owns the one in Los Gatos) was much better.
Rick's Picks is in the former Cattelan Antiques building. Seems that Rick's will have random selections of things based on what he can get at reasonable prices. Makes it fun to go in more often.
Last week they had enameled cast iron cookware for less than half the price of "another kitchen store" downtown. Let the competition begin, let the buyer finally get a break.

Yes , it is exciting to have a new store Downtown.
Hopefully everyone will not forget the stores that
have been bringing us hometown customer service along with
wonderful product. There is something different in all the stores.
If you haven't, stop in and check them all out.
